I love small venues. Encourages us to reign back the volume and not hide behind a wall of noise.

Well it's better than Moondance.

No Blue. The deal was direct transfer of funds to our account within 7 days. We got knocked for the whole amount. When I was in the UK, we'd ask for a 50% deposit for the private function gigs but that doesn't happen here in France. Having said that, I should add that this was a British owned venue and NOT french.

This place. We were invited to audition to be their resident wedding band. Which we did. Just by coincidence, on the last night of their week of trying to impress 60 visiting UK wedding planners. First function, went down a storm with the happy couple and guests who even left an additional three figure tip to be passed on to us at payment time. We went back after two weeks as we'd not received the payment transfer and lo and behold, gone into liquidation. In business again after 2 months, different name for the controlling consortium but strangely, all the same people. Hmmm. They had the nerve to email us two weeks ago to ask if we still offered a wedding function band service as they'd heard some positive feedback about us.😂

Blimey, seems to be all competitions with us. Tonights gig was at the international gliding championships. Seriously "up for it" audience but well boozed up as I imagine they'd all spent the week stone cold sober for the competition so it was let your hair down time. We played well and got booked for next year.

I should have known better shouldn't I? 😂

Any of the biggies by the Beach Boys. Especially, Wouldn't it be nice, Good vibrations or California girls. Also, as already mentioned, Summer, the first time. Now, totally naff but still conjours up the hot humid summer feel.

Played well, paid well but the distance was a bit too much for me. 520 kms round trip. Left home at 1.45pm yesterday, got in this morning at 6.45am. It was a double 50th birthday celebration. Lovely hosts, great food and whatever we wanted in the way of drink (not me, I drove back so orange and lemonade all night) Probably all in for next couple of days. By the way, when we started playing, it was still 28 degrees, at nearly 10.pm!!

Too true, Stan Webb used to use a 30 footer.

Been using the built in tuner on a Zoom B2 multi effects pedal but the input jack is iffy and it's always struggled with the low B so need a dedicated tuner pedal. Checked out the Ashdown bass tuner but reviews are not great so, any suggestions for one that does all strings quickly and efficiently would be welcome. If there is anything out there that's bass dedicated, please let me know.

National Fete de la musique here in France. Did a dep tonight, absolutely brilliant gig. Great welcome, big venue, great mix, set was perfect for the venue and got to play some cool tunes with some great players. Good money too.
