Itried out a friends EBS classic session a little while ago. Well impressed for about 30 watts. Really lovely sound,, light and easy to manage. Think they do a 60watt too but sounds like the 30 would do you. Think he paid about £150 new so who knows secondhand, maybe £100?

Here's the new 16mm assembly. A real pleasure to play now.

Tomorrow, I'll be picking up my Status Energy 5 string from my luthier. I bought it as it weighed 8lbs but ended up not using it due to string spacing. Just had a set of the individual bridge pieces fitted. Placed in contact with each other, gives me 16mm spacing. Cheaper than buying another bass.

Good post. I recently had a similar experience and with Mark bass head too only I, hooked it up to a battered £40 Laney Richter cab and it's probably the nicest sound I've had. I've used Eden, Genz Benz, Mark bass and Trace and although maybe my taste has changed, I love this current set up. Problem is, a couple of years ago I changed to all lightweight gear and now it's all just sitting there in the studio.

No, not Dad, they're all trying to find me. I owe them all 20€.😂

Any BCers playing in experimental bands?
leschirons replied to Barking Spiders's topic in General Discussion
Any BCers playing in experimental bands I f you heard us, you'd think so😂 -
Strangely enough, the gigs where I can't sleep afterwards are the ones that get me home at four or five in the morning. I guess at that time, I've gone past the point. Get me home at 11.30 and I'm off.

I've been doing it all wrong it seems.

Most yes, but I believe FinnDave's band are doing the original long versions. -
I don't get nervous about audiences, playing with other musicians who are more accomplished than me or, the material I'm going to play. However, if I'm singing, and that one little thought enters my head "what's the first line" that's it. The panic sets in. The audience usually notice what's happened by the time we've done the intro four times😂

How about something a little lighter? Like a three seat sofa😉

Here's the poster. Testament to a thrown together band with the "and friends" name As chris_B rightly pointed out, took the gigs and then put the band together. Here's the second set, which lasted 50 minutes. Purple rain, Stormy Monday, It's probably me, Put it where you want it, N'oubliez jamais and You can keep your hat on. Last two as the owner is a Joe Cocker freak. First set was eight numbers. Everything had a long intro, a couple of sax and guitar solos and all had a very extended and real easy jazzy feel. Sax player / vocalist is an excellent front man. Loads of audience interaction with a few jokes thrown in. Just went with the flow. I loved it. As usual, my name wrongly spelled. But then I'm only the bass player. Cherry on the cake for me, was a fabulous drummer. -
Got a call from a pro guitarist who'd taken a couple of gigs on but had no band. We both knew the same vocalist /sax player (also pro muso) and he'd been roped in so he just needed a rhythm section. He said he knew a pro drummer that was up for it. Set list to be decided. When we finally meet up to discuss a playlist, I'm handed a sheet with 14 numbers on it. I thought that would be the first set. Wrong. That was the total play list for what turned out to be nearly two hours playing and, on the second gig (tonight) we didn't get to the last number. The band went down a storm two nights running. Okay, the songs were stretched out some with funky intros and some fairly long sax solos but I got paid more than in my usual band, played only 13 songs and had a great time. I'm used to playing between 35 and 40 numbers usually. This is the future. It's up there with garlic bread.

Played at an Irish pub/restarant last night for a St Patrick's do. Not sure why they booked tbh as the nearest we get to Irish music is Pride by U2 However, packed house and all up dancing till the end of the encores. Great night though apart from guitarist faffing around with the 17 pedals on his board and the OCD tuning every 30 seconds.

Understand your point but when I said "risky" I was referring to the venue. They don't audition bands and had no idea exactly what they were getting. They could've hired a really terrible band. In addition, by definition, a sound check is performed to sort out and eliminate any sound and balance problems so, it's unlikely to be the best performance of the night.

Which Bassline do you wish you'd written?

Compression - what's all the fuss about?
leschirons replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
Great thanks, I'm definitely going to buy some. Probably a box of 12 as the nice guy on ebay said they're cheaper in bulk. -
New venue last night. None of us had ever been before so didn't know what to expect. Turns out the owner insists on filming 30 seconds of your sound check, then puts it on Facebook to advertise that evening's entertainment. A little risky I'd say😂 Anyway, smashed it and went down a storm to the point where we think he's now cancelled someone else's gig and given the date to us. Not very nice for the other band but we'd be daft to say no.

I don't even know if I've got compression, what's it look like? A pic would be helpful. -

You're probably right, just annoying that it's so difficult to get what to some, is important info. Think your correct re being discontinued. I'll have to look for a s/h CA35 as it's the vintage cream I want and they don't do it in the CA25. Thanks for the reply.
