At 11 years old, is your son really into The Beatles, Knocking on Heaven's door and Smoke on the water? Blues? No disrespect but if you think he's losing interest, it may be because of the stuff he's learning. I assume he's taking lessons at school or from a private teacher. Sounds like he's being taught fairly easy numbers that are simply of an era that suits his teacher. There's loads of more modern stuff he can learn with just a few basic chords like "Use somebody", Chasing cars, Perfect, Price-tag. None of them current but still 40 years later than Knocking on Heaven's door and, they're all easy 3 or 4 chord jobs.

Well, the power, and solution lay with the people in reality, not Ticketmaster. If nobody bought a ticket for any of these dates, the promoters would be in serious trouble. It would only have to happen once to ensure it never happened again. However, revolution involving a united front never seems to work nowdays as there are always enough people who value their night out over principles. Someone suggested that Kate Bush would be horrified at this but I can't believe she doesn't know and that it's a big boost to the ego to know that people will pay £1000 for a ticket to see you. I'll watch it on the telly. No-one is worth that sort of money.

You'll all laugh but, Moon river (due to the Galaxy advert) What a perfect example of perfect songwriting. Of course, it's of a bygone era but if you look past that, in my opinion, there is nothing you could do to improve this song.

Bought my Fbass from them. No problems whatsoever. I think Dave La Rue has a stake in the shop too. Arrived in France very quickly, only hold up was my end with French customs. Perfectly packed and set up. Very pro outfit and I would use them again.

When I left the band I'd been playing bass with for 13 years (in order to move to France) I flew back three times to dep on drums. All good fun. However, I later found out that when my sax playing brother also left the band, due to musical differences he was told, in the heat of the moment, that they were glad I'd gone as I was so "down" on the performances and always "going on" about wanting it to be better I never mentioned this to any of the band after it came out as we were all old friends. However, I did get to see them at a pub gig 3 years ago when they were going through their "we want to play real music to real people" phase I walked in the pub in Brentwood, lead guitarist's big moment (Sweet child o mine) see's me, and starts the intro like he's had Les Dawson's hands transplanted on an hour before. I stayed for the whole gig, catching up with old mates. On my return to France, I had an e-mail accusing me of having given the guitarist "a look" and raising an eyebrow, and maybe it would be better if I didn't go to any gigs in the future when visiting the UK. I'll be the first to admit that can get on someone's case when things are bad but I don't mean cock-ups. They happen to everyone. Good nights and bad nights. That's live music, but what I can't stand is a "that'll do" attitude when it won't do. Members obviously trying learn a number in the car because they haven't bothered since messing up at last rehearsal. I'm no Marcus Miller but I know what sounds bad and that if you're being paid, you have a duty to the public and to your band mates to execute it all to the best of your ability. I have no problem with playing for fun with mates and it sounding crap if having a laugh is the only intention. Take someone's money, and it all changes for me. Anyway, haven't seen them since.

Got rid of the 2 Eden rigs (a 500w head + 4x10 and a 300w 2x12 combo) and the Mark bass 103 combo due to weight and size. Now use a Genz 6.0 combo + 12T ext. HEAVEN!!

When you admit you'd been thinking about it for a while, it means it's really a done deal and there's no going back. It can get postponed but usually ends with the same result. I think you've done the right thing. Best for you and best for your old bands. It's not as if you don't have anything to do now so just enjoy the remaining band.

I usually find it depends on wherever, whatever twat of a keyboard player we've got sets up. It usually works out like this (can't do a pie chart) 30% of stage = keyboards, various monitors / stands 25% of stage = guitar rig, 2 spare guitars and associated floor spaghetti 25% of stage = drum kit with at least 2 unnecessary drums and 2 extra completely crap cymbals for "the look" 15% of stage = vocalists mic stand and array of water bottles, song sheets on floor, throat sweets and sprays 5% of stage bassplayer, with headstock stuck up in air
