Great band live. Saw them at Wembly. A huge gig with Fleetwood Mac, JethroTull and River City people. Hall & Oates and Tull left the rest of them for dead.

Why not just get one of these? but if you have to change basses, put all the Jazz numbers together and the Precision numbers together. I change basses rarely and only if it's an absolute must. I don't really think it helps the flow of the performance and can look a little unpolished.

I know the body woods are the "making a statement" bit but apart from that, I like the bass in general. Nice shape.

And one of the true masters of the Harp guitar. A really sad loss to music. I think he had so much more to offer. The guy was a genius.

I don't solo so never really need a 6 string despite almost always having had one (that gets played) however, a 5 is indispensible to me. Use one all the time. I do own a 4 string but there is no sound in the world better than a low D played on a B string. It fills the stage. Play all my low E's on the B string too, also any F / F#

They're a Christian rock band. They were on Songs of praise yesterday. Programme was all about Lindisfarne. Very etherial sound. Great song too. PS. I would like to make it clear to readers that this programme was only on as neither of us could find the remote

Well, The OP doesn't sponge off Mum & Dad, is passionate about music, seems to have earned more than the year before for each of the last 3 years and is only 24. Go for it mate. I didn't, but I don't regret it. Started playing live at 15 / 16. Had my own business since age 26. That paid the bills but also allowed me to use playing as a release from the work pressure and indulge my gear fetishes. Had a few good and big gigs in the early years and that was enough to look back on and nostalge. That has suited me but everyone is different. If it's your ambition, and you seem to be realising it, do it. Lots of people will offer advice, some good, some bad, but the bottom line is that it's only you that will regret not going for it. Best of luck with whatever you decide for the future.

I think its gone completely over your heads and you've all quite missed the point. This guy is seriously cool and just camping it up. He's taking the piss out of the prissy vocalist whom he now hates since he pissed off last time without helping him get his bass rig into the car, hates being in the band anyway and totally hates the setlist that has not changed since December 2002. He's decided to use his 6er for the gig just to see if the rest of the f***ing band notice and slip in some dodgy slap just to wind up the drummer who hates Mark King with a passion as he used to go to school with him and got bullied by him from 1973 to 1975. Of course, I may have gone off on a bit of a tangent here but I think I'm on the right track.

Eva Cassidy's Somewhere over the rainbow is now the definitive version I suspect. She did a seriously cool jazzed up version of Route 66 too. Terry Wogan was the man responsible for introducing her to the masses.
