Same here but the black 62 Strat. £162 brand new. Thought the basses were the same price too but I was a guitarist then so maybe I was mistaken.
-
When I gig, I'm usually stocked up with drum sticks, a set of 9-42 guitar strings, a hi-hat clutch, a pocket Line 6 effects unit, and a spare SM58. Apart from my spare stuff which includes a spare bass😂
-
I'm sure I'm not the only one either. If an instrument plays better, or sounds better, it is what it is, better.
-
So then does that make a 63 Strat or Jazz bass worth thousands purely for the rarity value? Because all those small improvements and technological advancements that we now talk of should mean an old instrument plays like crap compared to a modern one but apparently, they don't 😂
-
Yes, and I suppose we're not being forced to buy them after all. I get there's different levels of construction quality and different configurations but I've often picked up a £200 Squier that plays better than a £1300 USA. Once they're set up to your preference, how different can they be? I saw another this morning called a "different universe" Strat. How long's that been around?
-
Kids eh? 😂

Fender 7250m 45-105 so I imagine the middle two are 65 and 85

I think that one day, I may try and count how many different versions of the Strat there actually are, and have been since it was first created. I imagine it'll be around the 50 mark at least not counting different colours. So I guess, you can reinvent the wheel, over and over again.

Thank you so much. It hadn't even occurred to me he was detuned leaving aside my hearing problems. Much appreciated. Thank you.
-
Yes, I've installed an elevator in our house so as I can listen to it. But it's what I like.
-
Tried on my Bose phones and the Mackie monitors. It's all just a mush in my ears at the moment. May be best to sort it when all these hearing problems are hopefully sorted.
-
Hi all, At the moment, I apparently have inflamed sinuses and an inner ear infection. When I talk, it sounds to me like I have a cardboard box over my head and about 40% hearing ability. I'm struggling to discern bass notes and the other night, ran through a new number, playing the bass line a semitone out over the whole song😂 Anyway, the song (link below) Together again by Dave Koz, I've played for ages now but this live version I found with Cory Wong has an intro that I need to sort. Just the first 8 notes before the song starts. What I've got, is Eb C B Eb(octave lower) Bb G F# F but I've no idea if it's correct and can't see what the bass player is doing on the video. Most of these notes just sound like a low rumble to me at the moment. So, if anyone knows this version or can just confirm or correct what I "think" they are, I'd be grateful.

And, they all cost £162.

Predictive text. I never make that mistake😱 so thank you.

Just seen the ad for their new range of Squiers. A 40 year anniversary tribute range to their entry level instruments that in their words, were introduced after calls to "make Fender designed products available at affordable prices" They're £500 I've contacted Fender to suggest they call it the "Irony" series😉

No-one remember Janice Johnson? Founding member and bassist with Taste of honey. Fabulous player. Founded the band in the very early 70s Boogie oogie oogie was a game changer. One of my first bass heroes.

All in the eye of the beholder. If you love it, that's all that matters.

I took this in as a PX trade. A Maruszczyk Elwood 5a. Wasn't even sure if I was going to keep it but I was interested in the pickup config as I sort of missed my Ray but also tended to use a Jazz on the neck PU 90% of the time. I know nothing about these basses other than what I see mentioned on here. If I'm honest, I'm mighty impressed. Can't fault the craftmanship and finish. Neck is a little chunkier than I like but I'll get used to it. So yesterday, I gave it a bit of an outing with a couple of muso mates as I'd only tinkled around with "at home" volumes. Don't know why I didn't try these before now. It has the tone I've been looking for for ages now. I'm sure I've owned other basses that would have achieved it too but I had no idea how to find it. This was sort of "plug & play" if you like. I'm hooked. It's a keeper. Seems to deliver everything I need from a bass.

Well, they didn't do that when I last went to a gig....

I only go to gigs where I can sit down. My feet ache a lot. I need to get into jazz so I can also play sitting down.🤔 -
Had Jamahl round this morning to pick up a bass and do a PX trade. What a lovely guy. He's a new member but no hesitation in singing his praises whatsoever. Seriously good player and all round pro muso too. Real pleasure to have met him.
