1. I do like to drop in a William Shatner monolgue, over our version of "I Will Survive" .... fun watching the singer trying to keep going .....
2. I wrote to Jimmy at Alleva Coppolo and with regards the headstock shape he said that "the headstock is deliberately shaped like a large canoe paddle in order to exert maximum damage when (accidently) hitting a guitarist on the right temple"
3. Funny there's nobody yet said they don't pay tax on absolutely everything they earn. Are you telling me if you get £40 in your back pocket you declare that? And if you do, then surely you should have an invoice & receipt to prove that's what you earned. And for the record, I pay tax on all my band earnings as well.
4. Yeah, I just paid £450 + £25 P&P and I get all that back (inc P&P) but pay £25 P&P to get it back to Alex. I can get this one shipped for £350, which saves me £100. Not sure how warranties or the likes would work though.
5. Haha, nice try. Although it was a serious question to everybody. Is it ethical fo rme to send back my Compact (within the 30 days) and buy this to save £100. I'd feel "wrong" doing it but money's money !
6. Man, if you'd only posted this a week ago ! Do you think Alex would mind if I returned my new cab and got my money back, or is that a bit cheeky. I'd save myself a hundred quid !
7. Good question as I've often required the same. Been tempted to buy the DR 4-string set and not change the B string on every 2nd string change. Surely the B doesn't need the same fresh/zing to it and I could save a bit cash each time. And has anyone had a B string snap on them?

Wil's feedback

Wil just bought my Schroeder 410L from me. Very good to deal with, fast PM responses and payments. Cannae get better than that !!!
9. I don't want to sound heartless but perhaps the poster could contact Mike Walsh and get some more information regards the bass. Wood types, neck scale, electronics, string spacing etc. It may not help much for the value of the bass, but would give potential buyers more detail. The intention is to sell this bass after all !
10. OK, postage is £20 as suspected. Not sure how to package this, if anyone has any suggestions. Bubblewrap & parcel tape I guess. Wil if you want the cab then drop me a PM and we can arrange payment.
11. Let me check and I'll let you know as soon as I hear, hopefully before the end of today but might be tomorrow morning before I know if I can ship this. Yes, it's the 58lb light version.
12. Hi Wil, if push came to it then I'd be OK shipping if you covered the cost. I've got a mate that could probably do this for £20 but it ain't light and I'd have to check he was OK doing it.
13. Hi Wil, sorry but looking to go down the Barefaced route. Compact vs Super Twelve !
14. EV's for us too, pair of sx200 & sx300's. Bullet-proof !
15. Selling my Schroeder 410L of the 4 ohm variety, with pickup preferred. Price of £500 seems reasonable. I could have said £550 and been talked down but I'd rather go with my asking price so must stress I won't go any lower ! It's the carpet covered option, in VGC with no marks that I've noticed. Comes with a scabby, home-made vinyl cover that has protected it well. I can post pics if someone insists, but I'm as well giving a link to the Schroeder website at click here
16. I've just tried the Compact on tour, and been pleasantly surprised as have the rest of the guys/gals in the band. Currently play a Markbass SA450 through a Schroeder 410L and the Compact is easily as loud. Mind you my amp volumes are set at 1'o clock for Gain and 9 'o clock for volume as we use PA support. We're a 5-piece band and the Compact cut through nice & clear, even more so than the Schroeder.
17. OK, two choices.... I wouldn't mind keeping the cab until next weekend where I've got a couple more gigs at different venues. I would then have had the cab just over a week ! Doing this might mean that DekSawyer is back from Oslo, and then after his few days with the cab it would also mean Razze06 is back. Otherwise, who is next on the list and I'll arrange a courier delivery to them in the next few days?
18. OK, the Compact "On Tour" model arrived yesterday and not one to hesitate I had the chance to gig it last night for the first time. As asked for by Alex, I've taken a couple of pics with my phone (apologies but not the greatest) and have included a review below. BUILD/QUALITY/APPEARANCE: 7 The cab arrived well packed, and the first thing I noticed was how light the package was. Straight out the box, the cab looked great and again, I can't stress enough how light the thing is. Close inspection showed the finish to be the paint-on job that Alex uses. I'll be honest and say my preference as a gigging bassist has always been carpet or Tolex as I feel it's the hardest wearing of all finishes, but the paint-on stuff seems to work OK although it makes an otherwise quality built cab look home made. The chrome corners give it a vintage-vibe but again, if I'm critical they weren't flush to the corners. Again I'm going to nit pick, but hey it's my review ! The side handle is great, and I had my reservations before hand but it works a treat. However, why put chrome screws in a black handle. Again, it gives the cab a slightly home made feel to it. Comments from fellow band members were, the cab looks home made, the badge doesn't look right for the vintage-vibe and reminded the drummer of an Iron Maiden logo. Style was like a bassists cab from the clubs back in the 70's ! Let's just say I took a fair bit of stick over the way it looked. FEATURES : 7 Not easy to score this, it's only a bass cab but again, here's my honest review/opinion. The cab has a single speakon jack and as an 8 ohm cab I think there should be the option of 2, even if it's at the build stage. The shape/size is perfect for carrying but again, as a gigging bassist I found my amp rack didn't sit on the top of the cab properly, a real pain. If I went for one these cabs then I'd properly change my rack too to a gig bag but I'd lose the protection of putting my amp in a flightcase for transport. Oh if only it was another inch wider ! Weight is the biggest factor (as well as sound, read on!) and it really is unbelievably light, so a big plus on that one. SOUND: 10 Amp: Markbass SA450 Bass: Shuker Jazz 5 Playing style: Mostly finger style, some pick and some (very poor) slap. Effects: None. Music: Wedding band material typically Current Cab: Schroeder 410L 4 ohm Wow! An amazing sounding cab with a really even response, and with a good clear "bite" to the sound. I've only played this cab once, but this is the sound I've been trying to achieve from my gear for years. You won't get a glass-like treble but this cab really let's me hear my bass from low B through to the highs. It's a very precise cab as well, which I liked. SUPPORT: 10 Alex is a great person to deal with. Also a one month trial, with your money back if you don’t like the cab. Can't say fairer than that. GENERAL COMMENTS For the sound alone I want one. Still not the greatest looking cab and had a home made look/feel to it. However, for the weight, and specifically the sound I'll be getting in touch with Alex soon to place my order. That's me done it, I'll be gigging again tonight (same venue unfortunately) and will then get this to DekSawyer who is next on the list. S
19. Superb, if I have these for this weekend I've got gigs Friday & Saturday. Deek are you OK for getting this next week if it arrives to me before Friday?

Weddings

We've just been asked to play a first dance at a wedding, Run by Snow Patrol then stop after 1st chorus say "this is sh*t" and play the dance version of Crack the Shutters by Snow Patrol, yes that's the dance-mix version. We've advised the bride & groom we don't think it'll work as it may seem a bit of an in joke, but wondering what the seasoned wedding band players think? Been playing weddings for years myself, and we'll probably try because we don't want to appear arsey about not playing it. Any thoughts?
21. If it helps, I had a custom-built bass from Jon Shuker. Never visited the guy and had no chance to play the bass before it was finished. I told Jon the type of neck I liked, and when it arrived it was still not quite right, very close though. After a few more calls and emails, I sent it back to him and he sanded & refinished the neck for me free of charge as he wanted me to have bass that I was happy with. It's still my #1 bass !
