How do you do this? I can't seem to find how to ship to the UK from their website.

Vanderkley are better than Barefaced cabs, right?!
largo replied to Al Krow's topic in Amps and Cabs
I just miss something with the 2 x One10's but can't quite put my finger on it. Not sure if I can justify almost £700 for another Two10 though! -
Totally agree, adjustable bridges make so much sense. I did reduce the BN string spacing but sure I found the fingerboard width still too much. It was a few years ago now though.

I've had a few Warwick's in my time & still hark back to the '88 Stage II I owned many years ago. Didn't like the Thumb and always found it a "stretch" to play for some reason! Biggest bug bear with Warwick is this... I had a "broad neck" 5-string Stage II which had a neck like a tree trunk and 20mm string spacing & then tried a standard spacing 5-string Stage II with 16.5mm spacing. Why can't Warwick make a 5-string with a standard string spacing, i.e. 18mm or 19mm spacing.

How much “more” does the 2xTwo10 give compared to a single Two10. Very tempted to upgrade from my 2xOne10 but it would have to be worth it to make me carry the extra weight 😂 -
Going to Charity. Strings x 2 sets BEADG Long Scale
largo replied to Oldman's topic in Completed Items
What type of La Bella strings are they? Cheers. -
I used to have a couple of the GK Neo 112-ii cabs which were great, nice tone, lightweight & well built. GAS got the better of me, or I'd probably still have them. Now I have a couple of the Barefaced One10's and wouldn't argue against these or a Two10 as an option too.

I have 2 x One10's and don't think you'll have any problems with either. I don't think a single One10 would cut it live, certainly in a rock band but I'm in a 5-piece wedding & function band, not overly loud but I never have a problem unless I'm standing right on top of the mini stack. I'm not sure how much "looks" matter to you, the Two10 stacked vertically has the badge the "wrong" way as it's meant to sit horizontal, whereas the 2 x One10 just looks right stacked.

La Bella Tapewound String - 50's or 60's that is the question.
largo replied to largo's topic in Accessories and Misc
Cheers, might just do that although still fancy trying the tape wounds too. -
Having used Status Half-rounds for a few years, it would seem they no longer sell these on their website. Bugger! So a quick review online and thanks to mccnach (cheers Jose) I think I'm going to try the La Bella White Tapewounds. However, the 50's are marked as being light and the 60's are standard & reviews suggest the 50's are low tension. Anybody got any advice on which string size I should go for, I'm usually a 40 or 45 type of guy. Cheers.

So, if I'm reading Jim Bergantino's post correctly, Bass Direct are the service "agents" for warranty repairs & the likes?

Personally, I'd probably go for 3 of the Barefaced Two10 cabs. Maybe start with a couple and if you feel you need the third it's always an option. As for amps, more a personal choice so I'd simply say try a few. IMO Ashdown ABM are great amps & my Mesa D800 has a lovely tone for a micro size. Best amp I ever had was the Mesa Carbine M6, that could fell a tree at 50 yards! Almost too powerful for the smaller gigs though.

Should I cancel gig I am going to for my bands gig?
largo replied to markdavid's topic in General Discussion
My opinion, (1) you told the band you weren't available but they still took a booking with at least double checking with you to see if you would cancel your night out with the wife. It's their problem & either they cancel, or find a dep. If you have one or two dep contacts, I don't think it's unreasonable to pass on the details to the rest of the band. (2) if the drummer told you not to play the slide part, be big enough to take some constructive criticism. Sounds like he's at least listening to the band & how the song is constructed. However, if you think the slide works in the song, tell the drummer that. Has the drummer said anything to the guitarist? -
BF Gen 4 cabs - not anytime soon but a new BF Amp may be!
largo replied to Al Krow's topic in Amps and Cabs
My starters for 10: a new BBII something along the lines of the new Markbass Traveller 123: 800W and great performance in the mids, as well as the lows, but in a significantly lighter package which is, of course, your forte. A new look for your range that leaves the owner thinking "wow, these are gorgeous!" (and not "ok these are great sounding cabs but shame about that metal grille look"). There I've said it!
I'd second both of those... -

How did I miss that! I watched that video through as well. Was probably still distracted with your "reverse" Barefaced T-Shirt Excessive shoulder shrugging, I seem to have that affect on a few people. -

You could always tune into his Facebook Live videos, think there's another one today. Been pretty good so far & he's happy to discuss his plans for the future, even guitar cabs! Still hasn't answered my question about tolex & cloth finish on the 12" range of cabs though. -
I've gone to 2 x Barefaced One10 and had Roqsolid Cajon bags made for them, glorified carrier bags I guess Great wee cabs, plenty loud and light as I can possibly unless I ditch cabs altogether. The best bit is, I can carry them around like 2 bags of shopping, keeping my back straight at all times. I have some back pain, nothing major but someone once said "prevention is the best cure" so reckoned I should do all I can before I make things worse.

largo replied to Al Krow's topic in Amps and Cabs
You pretty much nailed it in your original post. I used to own a couple of VK 210MNT cabs. Absolutely fantastic tone & build quality was top class. Now own a couple of BF One10s and tone is great (a single one10 certainly doesn't match a VK 2x10) but they are ultra lightweight. I know it's improved but I still don't think the finish quality matches other cabs in the price bracket. The BF certainly won't collapse just because it's lightweight, really depends what's important to you. -
So, I've had myself a couple of Barefaced One10's for a while now and they sound great and are really light, they do sometimes lack a bit of bite. My guess is it's my old problem of standing too close to the cabs on a lot of gigs and the real sound flapping past my ankles! So, I'm thinking of following in mcnach's footsteps and stacking a pair of Two10's vertically to get the sound up nearer my ears. I see that the Markbass 102P Traveller cabs are similar in weight (slightly less so) and wondered whether this was an option to try as well. Surprised there's never been a comparison done on the BC forum but would value opinions. My current amp does 2 ohms but it's not to say it'll always be my amp, so the benefits of the MB are they are 8 ohm cabs (so 4 ohm load) & have recessed handles which I've always preferred. However, tone wins every time, so would need to sound great to trump the BF. For the record, I'm a less bass, more mid-type of guy than a low rumble, smiley-face one. Cheers y'all.
Don't listen to us. We all suffer from confirmation bias and will recommend what we have.
Don't entirely agree with this. A lot of us have come from practice amps to the gear we have now and owned a lot of different gear in between. I've had everything from small combos to 8x10 rigs and so I like to think I can offer some valuable advice. My current rig is best for what I do just now but I wouldn't recommend it to everyone. OP is simply asking for a "better sounding" practice amp that won't break the bank. Personally I'd be looking at GK, Hartke, Fender, TC or even Line 6 for a step-up from your current practice combo, with a 2x10" or 12" speaker depending how loud you want to go. Hope that helps.

the beauty of the smaller D800 is that it fits beautifully in a laptop backpack
