  1. I buy all my strings from the US and have done for ten or so years. Why? Because even with shipping, it's still cheaper than buying from a shop here.
  2. GHS Boomers and Dean Markley Blue Steels are in a similar category being broken in out of the packet.
  3. I don't think I've ever been told stick to root notes or no playing that stands out. Tell a lie, one of my very first (original) bands did... I left after two weeks.
  4. Sandberg also offer Black Label pups now. Like their traditional pups but with a little something extra.
  5. Neck and pickguard back on:
  6. I think it will be a case of the original neck going back on. I just can't see a workaround and don't want to make major changes to the new neck or existing body. New nut and tuners on the neck are a possibility.
  7. Singers swagger in to the venue, get on stage, say 'Test, test', walk off and head straight for the bar. Then usually try to chat up your girlfriend...
  8. The Sandberg necks remind me of a Stingray neck but a little flatter.
  9. "Buyer beware" ? I'm pretty sure you're wrong on that front. Has stated in the following link: https://www.gov.uk/marketing-advertising-law/regulations-that-affect-advertising The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations mean you cannot mislead or harass consumers by, for example: Including false or deceptive messages Leaving out important information Using aggressive sales techniques Has @thegummy says, "Are you saying they could call it an American Fender, it really is a Harley Benton with the logo changed and it's still up to the buyer to notice at the time, otherwise that's perfectly legal?" If it was bought through eBay and paid with PayPal, they could very easily find in favour of the buyer. If he can prove that in the original listing there was no mention of a pickup change and the bass was advertised as stock, then this is false advertising and a refund would be issued; presumably the bass would need to be returned to sender.
  10. Soft and Hardcore aged are more about cosmetics. Hardcore reserve gets vibration treatment and Masterpiece gets vibration and thermal treatment.
  11. In case anyone was wondering. Quite clearly a bear. It features on the state flag of California alongside the star.
  12. Leicester looking more likely to have an extended two week lockdown. Bad news for the pubs.
  13. Okay - let's break this down. What's dodgy? The fact he was sold a bass which was not stock and these modifications were not mentioned. This is false advertising. This is illegal. So he saw it with 2 different pups and he liked and bought it. Has above, he was not told that any modifications were made to the bass so was right to assume that the pickups were stock. "I bought a Mexican jazz bass (fretless) a while back. I never really got on with it but I kept a hold of it anyway incase I changed my mind.. recently I decided to give fretless another go and after a good look over I noticed both the pickups are different! I should have noticed this when buying it I know.." Nothing dodgy in that. Ok so he didn't notice the pups. Which is what makes it dodgy. He wasn't told about the pickup swap and sold something that wasn't as advertised. If you sell a car, do you go round with each buyer and point out the stone chips? The pickups in a bass are more fundamental to the sound than some chips in the body. If you're selling something, you at least owe it to the buyer to tell them if any modifications have been made and if the item is stock or not.
  14. Sorry to hear about this. I've dealt with a few dodgy sellers in my time and walked away when they were caught out.
  15. Any idea of release dates on these?
  16. I think it looks rather good. Nothing new about it... but it is nice to see Squier offering other options besides a 'standard' P or J.
  17. A Jazz bass but made to look like a '54 Precision. Let's get some opinions on this!
  18. Nice move by G&L. There seems to be a gap in the market for short scale basses between £400-£800. The two things I didn't like about the original were the weight and the paint jobs. These new Tributes seem to rectify that. Good range of solid colours to choose from and the body is made from basswood instead of alder so that should help rectify the weight problem. Strung with La Bella nickels is also a nice touch.
