2. We,re still looking if anyone knows of a click literate drummer dude!
3. Stoning is done when the frets are uneven due to wear or bad workmanship and dressing is done by using a fret file and re shaping the fret to a curve after stoning which tends to make the frets that were highest very flat you can also include shaping the ends of a fret when they are first fitted as dressing.
4. I was chatting to the owner of our local rehearsal complex about this yesterday and he seems quite fired up about it. His ideas were using his main showcase room as the mainstage area and opening up the other studio,s as workshop areas and then went on to say that he could organise the whole show including a hogs roast, outside bar and the accomodation etc as the venue has a huge, clean and cheap (around £23 qwid a nite) Hotel complex within walking distance of the studio,s. His name is roger, he is one of the nicest, most entusiastic and talented guys I have met in years. The studio is A&R Rehearsals in peterborough which puts the venue in a resonable distance for travelling from north, south, east, and west as it,s just off the A1. I f anyones interested in checking out the studio website ans speaking to Roger... www.myspace.com/rogeratanr. [email protected] Wiz.
5. Well my new rig is now up and working thanks to john clark at voodoo lab, after he talked me thru the setting up procedure I now have all my pedals named into the floor unit and I can set up multiple pedal patches and song pedal sequences so that during a set I don,t have to break into an irish jig when I need to select several effects in a rapid sequence. I,m so happy. Time for a beer..
6. Ground control build update. Well I,ve wired it all up as it says in the manual, you can see the back of the switcher unit and all My luvverly wiring is now in place, all I have to do is program it, It is becoming clear that it is going to take longer to do that, than it did to build it.
7. I,ve got many favourites but the one at the top of the list has to be the band Yes with Rush a close second with either Fragile or Going for the one from the yes camp and Power windows from rush.
8. This is just like a question I had for ages like who played bass on the theme for the new avengers. It wouldn,t surprise me if it,s the same person.
9. It is pretty much up to whatever you want to do as far as applications such as running air tools and even car spraying are concerned, I mainly use it for air drills, riveter bead blaster and nail guns for work on flightcases and pedalboards etc, it,s not actually a full on commercial job and I think my local tyre centre would probably kill it in a year but it is as good a home workshop one as you would ever need.
10.
Got ya! So what about that Clark compressor any good?
Clark comp?? I,ve got a boss comp/limiter in the chain. The widget over the back on the left is a palmer signal splitter to send a dry signal to svt1 and another thru the pedal chain to svt2 Ohh hang on now I geddit!! the clark compressor, 14cfm of pneumatic porn!!
11. Yeah I,d like to know as I,ve been thinking "oh my god , hope he don,t knacker it" As for sticking your knee under the neck!!!! the only bass that I,ve really ever encountered that the manufacturer ever advised that was rickenbacker with the early single truss rod 4001,s.
12. If this helps , the more you turn the bolt clockwise the more the neck will bow backwards eg the middle part of the neck will appear higher than the ends!!! The best advice I can give is to take it to someone who has done trussrod adjustments before as you can make things worse if you are stabbing in the dark with such things.
13. There is a thick 100mm screw going into the body so i don,t think I,ll have any probs with weight/leverage etc , if anything it,s probably a little over engineered, still if it does snap I,ll let you all know so you can have a good giggle!! Hi dave!! I did think about lopping off the headstock but I like the inlaid rose too much!!!!
14.
I'm never selling any of mine, ever.
I,ve always had that sentiment, unfortunately there is always something else along the way and if you,re not careful you end up tripping over cases all over the place!!!!!

which bass

If you are going to buy off the bay try this, it ends soon and will probably be a bargain looking at how much it is now! 16.
or really good at jumping
The switcher unit that,s at the top of the rack just below the pedals does the switching, all I have to do is select a patch from the pedal board onstage, It,s like using a multi effect unit but using my pedals as the effects. The pedal board lets me program what effect chains i want so I can switch in multiple effects in and out with a single step.
17. Here,s an idea!!! the guys in the band said "that,s crazy" so I guess this is where this idea belongs. I,ve been on a quest to get a antonio tsai inlaid 7 string bass into a playable condition and after many hours of fret stoning it now plays a treat but I still had the problem of the fact it is neck heavy due to the fact that the top horn is not long enough so... I had this made :-)
18. Quick Update, The pedals are now in place and all I have to do is make up the 32 jack to jack leads to lace the whole thing up.
19. The only rack I have used up till recently is my svt amp rack that I know some of you folks have already seen but for some time now I have been wanting to get my pedals in a better set up than just stomping about on the stage in the dark so I,ve decided to make the Ground Control rig I,ve been schemeing about a reality, so..........
20. I use "Hi modulus graphite" picks that contain carbon fibre, I,ve been using them since the eighties and still have a stockpile of them as the factory burned down years ago. Pickboy do a fair copy which is known as The reefer pick which I use for rehearsals but doesn,t quite match the originals.
21. +1 for Rush.......Freewill The first thing I thought of when seeing this topic!
22.
Brandoni Guitars in Wembley - bodies, necks, pickups, hardware etc... http://www.brandoniguitars.co.uk
I can thoroughly recommend this man!!! I have known him and bought loads of stuff off him since the mid eighties and if you ever get a chance to walk round his warehouse take it !! It,s like alladins cave of guitars!!! A nice bloke too!!!
23.
Hi Wizbat, no I don't think the fan was changed. Is your ampeg quite noisy too?
My amps are very quiet and the fans make hardly any noise at all, I am running extra rack mounted fans at the rear of my amps and they make more noise than anything else.
24. Wht not get some paint pens, scribble all over it and write "zvex" at the bottom!
