Thanks xilddx, Garry, mcnach, and steve-bbb for your kind comments! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Sorry mcnach about those fast changes of shot. I think the problem was that we all looked really boring individually so he had to edit that way to keep it interesting We need to do a bit of work on our stage presence! Cheers, Kev
Pat Martino - Live at Yoshi's
I love that album!! Really great! I've been listening to an earlier one of his called 'Joyous Lake'. It's really worth checking out! -

Hi Lobematt, I think you may have made a mistake with the key. They're are playing it in Db, so the changes for that bit of the bridge would be Ab-7, Db7b9, Gbmaj7. Try analyzing the line with these changes instead, it should make a bit more sense. Hope that helps Cheers, Kev

I feel that one of the most useful aspects of music notation is that it gives you a 'visual' way of understanding and representing rhythm. I've always used visual shapes on the fingerboard to help me learn various basslines, scales, arpeggios, etc. I have found this to be a very easy and natural way to learn this pitch-related information, but when learning the rhythmic side of music I felt that it was less clear and obvious because I didn't have a visual way of understanding it. Music notation gives you clear and simple way of understanding, representing and memorising rhythms.

Gary Husband's 'Dirty & Beautiful, Vol1/Vol2'
Kevin Glasgow replied to Kevin Glasgow's topic in General Discussion
Yes - I've got vol.1 and there's heaps of good bass playing on it. Jimmy sounds great on most of the tunes. Mark King pops up too. I'm liking the guitarists too. A lot of Allan Holdsworth and a track with John McLaughlin, Steve Hackett and others. Gary Husband has some address book.
Yeah, I'm a big Holdsworth and McLaughlin fan. I'm always happy to hear more from those guys! I'm also a big Mark King fan. It's really interesting to hear Mark and John play together on the track 'Sulley' (on vol. 2). -
Hi Folks, Just wondering if anybody's checked out these two records? I just bought them the other day and there's some great stuff on there! I particular I love Jimmy Johnson's grooving on the Allan Holdsworth composition 'Fred'. Some of the most fluid and beautiful bass playing I've ever heard! Alex Machacek's 'Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Brothers' is another incredible track on there. I really like his playing and compositional style. Here's a wee vid of Gary talking about the records:-
