  1. I’ve used an Vanderkley Aurora amp for many years now and would never out it. It’s a quality built amp albeit with a price tag that is a bit eye watering. What ever bass I plug into it sounds great. I rarely use the EQ if I f do its to roll a bit of bass off, mainly on active basses. Is it the best bass amp ever built, unlikely but I wouldn’t change. I was a Trace Elliott man for about thirty years and thought they were unbeatable. As I’ve always maintained when in the mix is there any real noticeable difference between a £500 and £1500 piece of kit be it an amp, bass or cabinet.

Hi everyone, does anybody know of a Uk repairer of the above. I’ve emailed Sansamp in America and the Uk importers and have had no replies. These units are nearly £400 now and mines only about 3 years old. Developed a hum and the tone controls don’t work even with the active switch engaged many thanks
  3. I have a status S2 headless i purchased it in 1991 but think the shop had had it for about 18- 24 months before purchase
  4. Some 11 years ago I blew a disc in my lower lumbar. The Trace Elliott had to go. At this time there wasn’t a lot of lightweight gear around. I went for Vanderkley, hugely expensive but incredibly good gear. But years on I don’t find it as light as I thought it was. Barefaced cabinets used by a fellow bass player and friend is incredibly light. Over the past year or so most bass equipment makers are going light but why the high price tags. This question of weight won’t bother the younger of our fraternity but I’ve been lugging bass gear around for nearly 51 years now so come on all your bass equipment makers what’s with the price tag.
  5. Hope I’m doing this right. Hello everyone, Badretep here residing in Cornwall. Old guy now, playing for 50 years most styles, Fender jazz basses, Status S2. Lightweight gear. Enjoy reading basschatt discussions, that why I’ve signed up. That’s me done for now.
