I want to start using the G string more on my bass. Can you reccommend any good metal songs that use lots of the G-string?
3.
No, I will persevere with my felt pick & flats - I must get that sound!
You could do it with your thumbnail if you want to play fingerstyle. Use your finger to guide the thumb.
4. What do you guys think of it? It seems like the cheapest decent 5-string you can get. Any advice on buying cheap/second hand, issues with the bass, anything? I will try one out as soon as there is one in a shop somewhere, and tell you about that.
5. Other- I use Tanglewood beginner bass. It may have that beginner tag but it plays like a motherf*cker.
6.
Hetfield - bassist. Hammet played no rhythm guitar on the first 3 Metallica albums, all Hetfield layered up.
So you mean it was just Cliff, Lars and James kicking ass (well, Cliff at any rate) those albums?
7. Hey dudes, M4L666 here. I have just joined up on the advice of a workmate of my dad's. So, to business: I have been playing bass for 2-4 years now. I started playing when a band I was in needed a bassist. We didn't know any local bassists, so I started playing. The band broke up (just sort of quietly stopped being) but I kept playing and formed a new band, which is still active today (our MySpace). I mainly listen to and play heavy metal, with a bit of classic rock thrown in for good measure. I sometimes play different styles for the sake of my teacher, but mainly metal . I own a Tanglewood beginner bass. It may be beginner, but it's a killer instrument which has never let me down once. I have a Leem B818 combo amp, only 15w but it's OK, if prone to a little fuzz if the wrong knobs are turned. I am looking to get better gear sometime in the future, and I want to get a 5-string (I am looking at an Ibanez SR305-please give me opinions). I suppose that's it. See ya later.
