Guns n Roses at Spurs on Saturday 2nd July.

Sound was very poor for first 3 or 4 songs, but got a lot better. Great gig (other than early sound prob). Not a great advert for Spurs stadium as a music venue though...

In the end ("gentrification" notwithstanding) it's still in Tottingham.

  2. Any Trace stack will be mega heavy if you buy a used one. Can be bought cheap here in UK as a result.

There is a dealer called Amp Broker in Poland who does Trace stuff with apparently reliable shipping. Might be expensive though, have a look on Reverb.

You know that Tom cats are all about territory? Before long it’d be down the left hand side of the keyboard and you’d be joining your sacked keyboard player. Cats - can’t trust ‘em. :D

Can you get your keyboard players or guitarists spayed / neutered though. Or if worst comes to worst - euthanised?

  4. Reincarnation - sounds lIke De-pu**y😁

It's a great clip, the concentration and tail time beating / metronome are awesome.

The cockatoo clip is another favourite, bird should join Clown core.

Over an hour of Steve Reich and over an hour of Karlheinz Stockhausen?
You just made me realise they require much less commitment from me than an hour of ClassicFM.
So really, ClassicFM is for the committed elite.
    Demn elitists! 😄

Try a bit of Glen Branca's music for 100 geetarz, now that takes commitment/committal, sectioning.

The Fender Steve Harris is flake over LPB so it should really work as it’s the same principle- you have to stare at it like a magic eye photo…

    ”oh look a schooner!”

    ”ha it’s a sailboat…”

    ”a schooner is a sailboat…”

Isn't a schooner a sort of Beer Glass?

Aye, and hence the smiley, but I hadn't expected them to even be mentioned, so the last pages brought a smile to my face.
As for unpopular opinions, I remain of the opinion that Vivaldi was a hack (for lack of a better word), and that Bach was one of the greatest composers ever ...
... greater even than people who get singles in the Top 40. 😄

Oddly though Bach was a huge Vivaldi fan, hence the Italian Concerto.

They were as different as possible religiously and personally but both had to produce a lot of music in their (religious) working musician context.

Bach towers over all of his contemporaries, if you want a prolific "hack" of the same period Telemann sure churned music out

Fair do’s - I did post about it yesterday, accidentally in the lefties photo gallery section.

Oddly I'd spotted it there as I keep an eye on anything new in Lefty Section. Was already gone yesterday, looked good at a fair price.

Gumtree today, a Japanese Squier Precision Medium Scale. He wants £600 which is too much for me at present but seems a bit less than some of the prices being asked.

Never had a decent P bass yet, at my age am starting to think shorter scale might be a good idea.

@Basses Id Like To Pluck marvellous!

Thanks for posting this. I have found drafts of this magazine, but not this one. I’ll get this one printed out for the “This Is Your Life” red binder.

incidentally I know this story well, I’ve been told it many times!!

Next time I see him I’ll mention it for you.

    Thanks

    Matt

@Basses Id Like To Pluck glad you found the thread after our Facebook conversation.

I encountered Lawrence a couple of times in Highgate when a local player (whose name I can't recall) had dealings with him

Was so well regarded as a fount of wisdom/guru.

@Matthew Canty best wishes to your Father and you.

I am surprised that the NEXUS range never took off, but then Laney's reputation for Bass Gear went before them.

The Cabs were really good, which is why I've accumulated a few

    Light, solid and sound great.

Another one. I could go all day on these but I'm trying to ration myself.

Eric Clapton is the most overrated guitarist of all time. Absolutely dull as dishwater.

Good in the 60s at what he did. More and more substance addled and tending towards lucrative pap to support the lifestyle.

All this is apart from his spouting racist crap , being a nasty piece of work and becoming an anti-vaxxer.

See also van Morrison and the gink from Stone Roses (last also a mystifyingly overrated band)

I like virtually everything from classical to jazz to hiphop to pop to country. But there are exceptions.

-metal is as pretentious as prog rock is, being complex for the sake of being complex with a host of talented players wasting their talents.
-the Beatles would not have been anything without George Martin.

-bass solos that fit in as many notes as possible are like slap. Neither are musical to my ears, but more about ego and showmanship.

-Fender are an overpriced brand name that know that they can churn out overpriced half decent basses and people will still buy them. In most industries you get your brand names that become lazy, and Fender are just one example.
-the bass is the most important instrument in a standard 4 piece band IMO.

This apart from Metal and Beatles.

My exemplar of the irksome soloist is Mohini Dey. The facility with which she plays. Awesome.

Musicality Groove , not from what I've seen. Will have to see what the band with Marco Minneman is like, we shall see.
