This thing is still for sale and I really need rid of it! Someone must need a monster like this surely?! C'mon people! Will meet anyone in Scotland halfway for a pickup if that helps.
Sorry to get your hopes up, but I'm just wondering about your bass... Is that an old Aria or Westone? Looks nicely '80s from here...

Did you have extra coffee today?
Hope this clears up any confusion. Next Week...............Lahndahn town - and how the fish and chips were so much nicer in the old days when the 'twins' were around 'the manor' and the Queen Mahm fried them all personally - 'gawd bless 'er'
Would you like a fishcake with that big chip on your shoulder? Very entertaining - and, having wondered what the funny potato slice thing was instead of a decent fishcake, I now know! I'd also add that in Yorkshire, the fish and chips are meant for your tea, which means that all the chip shops open at 5pm and are closed by 8pm, which is about three hours before anyone in their right mind wants some fish and chips...

I'm originally from Somerset (even though I live in Yorkshire now) so I might be able to fit it in with a visit to my mum or something... Keep me in the loop... I'm sure there are a few Church Halls or function rooms not doing much on a dull Sunday in spring...
-
And to add to the geographic craziness, I'm three miles inside Yorkshire, but I have a Lancashire postcode. Winds everyone up no end... Seeing as we have a good selection of 'locals' on here, can we have a roundup of good live music venues? That's probably needing a new topic, but let me know if there's been anything similar on here...

As a 'not a northerner' who just lives here... I'm allowed to say that it's all the same, isn't it?
-
Perhaps everyone was at (or playing at) Glastonbury? I'd be up for helping out if I'm around. I tend to be busy every weekend of the summer though... Shipley's good for me - I'd thought it was Baildon, Essex at first...
-
If I'm around, then I'll be up for it. Were you thinking of a weekend? Or a weekday evening? Might affect where we can all gather... We could have 15 bassists and one guitarist - just to turn the tables on most jam nights... Where's in the middle for most people? Huddersfield/Halifax? Or more Leeds way? I'm only just in West Yorks here, teetering on the Lancs border, but I could make it to most places... Not that I have many free weekends.
-
Good idea. Post up the thread address when you make it. You realise this is all now all your fault? Are we all coming round your house for tea then?
-
Well, we're not short on towns beginning with 'B' here. Burnley, Blackburn, Bingley, Bolton, Barnoldswick... Sounds like something that needs to happen.
-
Uhoh, sounds like trouble brewing That's a lot of low notes...
And a hello from Wakefield too. WIth your list of likes and your location I'm wondering if you're a Colne Blues festival regular? David
I've been the last couple of years (it took me a few years to actually get to hear about it, not being an original Northerner) but only for a day or so each time. I plan on doing the whole thing next year though. It's great.
Why hello, I'm from Leeds I wish i could have such fine equipment, i probably could if i sold my guitars!
Well, I'd like to say that the bass came from my vast personal fortune, but there was some guitar selling that went on... I still have some nice guitars too though... Thanks for the welcome. It's nice here.

our blues rock band supporting our ZZ Top trib - come see us! Which ZZ Top tribute band is that? I had The Fandango Brothers (from Doncaster I think, not that far away) booked for my 40th in February, but they broke down on the way! (Long story, but I ended up playing guitar for the makeshift band at my own birthday party...) Then I saw them at the Colne Blues Festival and it was announced that that was their last ever gig! Their bass player's now playing with (so to speak) northern blues girl Chantel McGregor...
I've had interest but as it stands this is still going. Please buy it!, as the longer it takes the harder it's getting to part with, and I have to!
I was one of those watchers - but I couldn't work out why I needed it more than the Warwick Corvette I already own (oh, and I didn't have the cash at the time either...). If you have an answer though, then I'm interested in hearing it :-) -

Hi, I'm one of those 'average guitarists for 10 years, took up bass and found out that it's the thing for me' kind of folks. I've been trying to make up for it though - I started on a (surprisingly fine) Cort C4 and I'm now up to a s/h Warwick Corvette and an Ampeg Portabass combo... Likes: Blues, Blues, rock, rock and roll... Can't play: Anything remotely impressive... Lives - in the dark, satanic valleys twixt Rochdale and Halifax...
