I've had a good look around it and seems that most people are trending towards the "bug" style or "pedalboard" style wireless systems nowadays so i wasn't sure what was good - and looking around for wireless that's rackmountable on a budget is a minefield. as the band have now gone amp-less and me being picky with my sound didn't want to go straight in to the PA - i'm actually still using my Eich T900 bass head as my "pre amp" for gigs to get the sound i like Downside to that is i don't have an amp to stick it on top off and squeezing it on the desk with the PA and Mixer is proving to be a real challenge. So being sensible i'm going to rackmount the T900 (ears should show up within a week or so) - but it got me to thinking about rackmount wireless Currently i use a Boss WL-50 velcro'd to the top of the T900 and i have considered just rackmounting the T900 at the bottom of the unit and leaving the WL-50 where it is - but i think getting an actual rackmountable unit is probably a better idea - then sell off the WL-50. So.. to get to the point as i do tend to waffle for no reason. What's good in the Rackmountable world of Wireless Instrument stuff. I'm thinking UHF is probably the best route to take nowadays (or 5.8ghz digital - but can't seem to find any of that for the UK market that's doen't mean taking out a mortgage or sell a kidney to pay for) thoughts? thanks BC'ers.

i thought in my wisdom that a dual padded bass case would be a great idea for gigs so i can take a spare bass... bought me a Gator X2 Progo (i think that's what it's called) it is very well made - provides loads of protection - but i soon realised 2 basses in 1 case is actually awkward to pack in the car as it's quite deep and not lite to carry at all 1 bass in each hand in soft cases (looks like hard cases but they're soft) is much easier to carry around and easier to fit in the car for gigs with other stuff and thinner oddly.. i do like the gator x2 thing - i just don't think it'll leave the house again which is a shame (just don't tell the wife i spent £170ish quid on something i'm never going to use lol)

Grab any of the newer Eich stuff and it's all good don't get me wrong with any other cab i imagine that TecAmp head would have been amazing - it sure sounded perfect - thankfully the Eich is just as clean and of course as i got the 900 - MORE POWAH !!!!! (still can't push my BF cab to it's limit tho haha)

Hey there, I ended up at a well know bass retailer where i traded in the PUMA and came away with an Eich T-900 I did speak with Eich to see if there was anything that could be done as it was a "known issue" that they used to resolve for people even on the old TecAmp stuff, but sadly they said it wasn't something they did any more.. They suggested a buying a small 3rd party fan and getting it wired in to keep the unit cooler - but they felt the problem could actually be with the BF 212 i was running at the time and it running below the 4 ohm min load for the bass head causing it to over heat. Something they resolved in the Eich gear but them all having the cooling fan installed For reference it was just an early 1U Puma 500 Hope that helps.

well as we approach the end of the 1st month of 2023 i can confirm thus far i have purchased NOTHING !! WOOO go me Helps the band are going down the IEM route now and i already have a pair of KZ10's (think that's what they're called) which i randomly bought a year or so ago as a cool looking pair of headphones lol (yeah i know nubbit) then got a new phone with no headphone socket - so yeah they became useless TILL NOW. Doesn't look like i'm going to "need" to buy anything this year for the bass looking promising

+1 to Naxos10's comment Grab a Super 12(T) (Gen 2 - i use one of them) both around 16-18kg if i remember and can handle upto 1200 watts or The newer Gen 3 Super Twin - 18kg upto 1200watts handling of facemeltingly awesome BASS, or Big Twin II if you need that HORN - 22ish kg but even more facemeltingly awesome bass upto 1600watts handling

ha my "ampless" setup i suppose isn't "Ampless" at all - mine is more "cab-less" Bass - Eich T900 - PA - Wired IEM The T900 can be used without a cab so rather than fall in to the rabbit warren that is PEDALS !! i decided to keep it as is right now just without cab (knocked 16kg off my load in and load out and saved a huge chuck of space in the boot of the car)

So tonight (i just got home at 3am urghhh i'm too old for this i swear!!) took the 1025 out for it's 1st gig 1st impressions - DAMN it shipped with some lite donkey strings - so i'm changing them tomorrow.. BUT !! played like a dream - as the venue filled up i rolled a little high mid back in on the amp and as i'm wireless went for a wander to the back end of the pub (singer was very confused as to where i was going) and BOY what a sound. This thing is an absolute beast of a bass i did make 1 mistake and didn't get the high adjusted on my strap right so now my neck and upper back are killing me after 2 hours playing but i can honestly say i loved every minute of it stunned by how P'bassey the P pickup actually is too i'm really not a fan of the J pickup singled out it's just too thin by itself but in that ctr position it adds just enough top/high mids to make every note cut through that mix like a dream yup... this is the new gigging bass for ever now i think defo part of the BB club now

i've just gotta change them darned machine heads - i hate those fenderesq things ah well something to do in the new year

Ok, got it to the studio Saturday evening to push it through the T-900 and BF 212T and all i can say is WOW i've never had to wind Treble off on a bass head before but this thing sure has some top end to it - don't get me wrong it's kinda awesome i was just shocked at the topendyness of the passive bass. 1/3 of the tone rolled off and treble cut 25% on the bass head and WOW this thing sings and growls like a proper bass should. it's in dire need of a setup as i am getting fret buzz on the A/D/G strings but the setup outta the shop is super low and that's not ideal for my sausagefinger style of playing. Regardless i'm gonna be gigging it at our next gig why haven't i had a BB bass in my life before now !!! ah well lessons have been learnt

Ooo maybe i should consider flats for the 1025 hmmmm i'll think on it
-
For the 5 mins that i've played it through the cheap o Thomann practice amp i have at home - all i can say is WOW Get to put it to the real test tomorrow at the studio though the Barefaced 212T and Eich powerhouse T-900 Cant wait !!! (image from The Bass Gallery website as i don't have a suitable place / lighting to do it justice at home)

Image from the Bass Gallery website - but only cause i can't find a suitable place to take a picture at home but It's HERE WOOOOOOOOOO and boy does it sound good even through the cheap old Thomann practice amp i have in the lounge getting up the studio tomorrow so i'll push it through the Barefaced 212T and get a real feel for it. Oooo i think I might have a problem coming with buying new basses lol
