"Morris Hurricane" bass. Nope, me neither. Apparently "rare vintage" http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...ME:B:SS:GB:1123
Here's a little something I enjoyed putting together with GB. Its great fun to use - like playing with lego.
That's neat - I like it!

If you can avoid buying/owning/being responsible for the PA, do so! I find it the fact I have to cart it about the worst bit about gigging. Our set up is pretty small but life would be so much easier if I didn't have the wretched PA to deal with. Once it's yours, there's no shaking the thing off! That said, our set up works well. Two powered Alto PS4 cabs and a small Behringer mixer with FX built in. Don't forget to budget for cables (you'll need more than you think), power leads, etc etc. We each own Carlsbro powered monitors too which are expensive for what they are but do the job. Edit: good quality powered cabs like the Altos or Mackies are defo the way to go for clear vocals. We A/B'd the Altos against Peavey, Wharfedale and couple of other brands and the Altos were in a different league. They sound more like hi-fi speakers.

Used to play Slinkies, now play Hartkes. £6 a set and better IMO.
I am currently using Audacity for recording on my home mac, but what I'm doing just doesn't cut it: LOADS of noise, latency and bad quality audio.
You tried using Garageband? Should be included on your Mac and it's great. Latency sounds more like a interface issue - are you using a USB interface or plugging straight into the Mac? Try a Line 6 UX1 Toneport. I use the UX2 and it works a treat.

Lover-ly G&L L2500 - USA (5 string)
stingrayfan replied to thegreenman555's topic in Basses For Sale
Lovely bass but for some reason G&L's are not that popular here in the UK Why? I don't know.
1. Think the distribution in the UK never worked. When I called shops about Tributes a year or two ago, they said they had trouble getting hold of them. 2. A lot of the USA stuff is made to order. Means you great a custom bass but also means you don't see many hanging on the wall of guitar shops. 3. £500+ for a Tribute is a lot for the casual buyer. But you do get a hell of a lot of bass for the cash. If they could sort the distribution of the Tributes out in the UK, they'd sell on their own merits me thinks. -
Arrgh. That black 1A is the bass I wanted when I was 14! Remember it being much more expensive than than the natural version, which is how I ended up with that. The natural one was £150 back in 1984 (£350 in today's money). These are great basses though - very easy to play. Good luck with the sale(s)!
The guitar amp modelling is decent, there's a midi hammond organ built-in and it even does auto-tune type stuff.
The keyboard samples are great - just hooked an electric piano up via a USB Midi lead and played a Fender Rhodes straight off!
Neat, but can't help but think it would sound a lot better on a guitar.
+1

After fighting with Cubase on a PC, I'm loving using Garageband on the Mac. Any other fans out there?

Never really got on with Jazzes sadly, despite liking the shape and the sound. The neck is too thin for me and the offset body too clunky. But different strokes, different folks. Factoid: According to a book I read, the Jazz bass was designed in part to appeal to guitarists switching over to the new-fangled electric bass, hence the narrow nut.
Even the LMII is a lot more now than when i got mine.
That'll be the €'s strength against the £.

Nice basses. In 20 years time, those reissue Yamaha BBs will be collectors items. People will scout Ebay (or whatever it's called then), searching for them! Mucho under-rated.

This thread has amused me because I actually know the groom in the OPs picture but never had a Scooby Doo he was John Deacon's son. Even though he has the same surname.

I prefer new stuff. Old Fenders feel like antiques!

How to tell if this is a fake fender?
stingrayfan replied to jdougan's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I'm just nipping into the loft to see if there are any Alembics up there that I missed. Edit: back again. No joy, just a load of boxes, an old left-handed Hofner from the 60s that belonged to Paul, and a stairgate. -

Just bought dave.c's Aria GT4. For a bass that only costs around £200 new, it's amazing. Lovely glossy, grainy wood and binding. Lovely to play. Haven't used it in anger yet but at low volume at home it sounds like a beast. Really hot active sound. Stock pic below doesn't do them justice. Might take some porn shots with an SLR, if anyone's interested.

G&L L2000 Tribute. It's active but a flick of a switch and hey presto it's passive P or J bass! Should be able to get one s/h for around £350.
