1.
I'm looking at getting a new TE stack (7 band for those interested) and was wondering why people are saying the new stuff is rubbish.
Don't listen to the armchair experts - if you like the sound, go for it!
  2.
you should've pointed to the most expensive bass in the shop lifted the cheapest and said "right short arse do your talking on the fretboard , lets have a BASSOFF "!
3. Fender PT100 stomp box tuner. £40 new. Gigged one for 4 years and has worked a treat - very easy to see in dark. Has a mute out and everything.
  4.
Yeah they are seperate items... basically the 1x15 is part of a stack that I have also advertised whereas the 1x12 in this ad is a combo amp that I have used primarily for rehearsal
My mistake - apologies. Good luck with the sale!
  5. Sorry to be a pedant but.... In your sig it says you've got a 1x15 300w for sale for £250 but this ad says it's a 1x12 150w for £300. Or is it a completely different amp?
  6. Shame you're in Scotland, wouldn't have minded a noodle on this to see if it fits. Post some pics please.
  7.
For the most part, this consisted of 5 minutes for me to record my take, and then half an hour of the producer drag-dropping each note in his DAW so that it lined up perfectly with the existing tracks, and muting all the string noise between notes.
I'm with you. Cleaning up's fine, but I think it's a bit sad when producers are basically using computers to turn human performances into clinical, binary ones. It's basically like Photoshopping front covers of magazines. What started as a tool to iron out bad mistakes has become something used to create flawless beauty that doesn't really exist in real life. Besides, I bet your basslines were pretty good to start with!
  8.
any questions you can call me on 07956 964156
I've got one... How much?

    Weddings

Continuing the "you need to play Mustang Sally at a wedding" debate. So, on Sat, we tried it. Towards the end of the 2nd set. The floor emptied and three or four people danced to it. Then we played The Killers "Somebody Told Me" and the dancefloor filled up again and stayed full while we did The Jam, Kaiser Chiefs and Green Day etc. Not trying to be a smart alec but Mustang was the only time in two sets that no-one really danced. In set 1, all the oldies had been busting their moves to the Kinks, The Who and Madness!
For example we've played weddings for a brother, sister and cousin - all from the same family (although obviously not the same wedding, even though it was Norfolk).
11. That'll need a frickin big hard case. Ebay descriptions as good as ever, eh?
  12. Never seen one of these before. Nice looking stack!
  13.
I'll get cases in boots in gig bags where a hard case will not fit. I only use hard cases when my gear is in the band's trailer with all the other gear. In a car. a well padded gig bag is perfectly adequate.
True enough. That's what I tend to do when I've got a rehearsal after work.
  14.
There is a big long sticky on ear plugs and nobody uses these, so you are goona have to get these and the ER15/ER25 so you can A/B them.
I might just get a pair and see if they work or not!
  15. Ringing in my ears after the last couple of gigs, so time to get some custom fit earplugs done I think. Anyone use these ones? £99 inc getting the moulds done. Seems like a good deal - all the others seem to be £160.
  16. Back to the OP - any cars where you can fit a standard sized rectanglular bass car width-wise in the boot? I can get everything I need for a gig (inc PA) into my Audi A4 estate but I can't fit a blimmin bass case on its own in the boot! Edit: I guess most bass players when buying cars ask: "how do you get the seats to fold flat?"
  17. Never a good idea to suggest bi-anything to the Mrs.
  18. Small wedding in a proper ye olde pub/hotel in SW London. Great venue - was more like playing a house party than doing a wedding, really relaxed feel. Wedding party were up for a dance and the first half was heaving all the way through. So much so, that we played on a bit (always good to go with the flow). Started first few songs with two very attractive bridesmaids dancing right in front of me. Put me right off my fills What is it about bridesmaids...? Oh to be young, free and single... We put in a couple of cheesy wedding songs (Mustang etc) into the mix but they were a younger crowd and much more up for the Britpop and punky stuff, so we ended up playing more of that. Wedding couple were really cool and asked us to play all of the songs on our setlist that we normally ditch at weddings, because the lyrics are a bit unromantic. So we did: Is She Really Going Out With Him, Much Too Young and Ever Fallen in Love etc... Great gig - wiped out today though. Edit: used my new Trace combo again last night with my L2000 and it sounded brilliant. Warm rounded sound with loads of punch and definition. Bloody heavy though - two man lift. Hit that great sweet spot with the kick drum several times during the gig. You know the one - where the drummer's right foot and your fingers seem to be linked and you're playing beat for beat. Great.
  19. Trying to resist. Must stop having dirty thoughts about lightweight cabs :whacks self with branch:
  20.
Friendly Fires are very, very popular. They should be appearing on shows like this.
 I find myself agreeing with you Toasted. Their track 'Paris' is a grower. Not normally my thing, but I like it.
  21. "You Englanders dumkopfs can be looking like ze Vorwick factory staffen in these arbeiten-overallen."
  22. Great basses - esp with the Gotoh bridge. Lot of bass for your $. Get the action set right, boost the bass and treble on the preamp, plug in and you've got a great feeling and great sounding bass. I gig mine a lot, because it's so nice to play. Body's like a P, neck's like a Jazz.
