1. Check out: Killers - Hot Fuss (esp. Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine and Somebody Told Me) Magic Numbers - The Magic Numbers (great feel, chromatic fills galore) Wombats - Guide To Life.... (nice fast punky playing with a pick) Brand New Heavies - Brother Sister (ok, so it's mid-90s, but the playing is a masterclass)

3. Jesus. Scary - glad you're ok though. I normally carry an RCD but only use it at dodgy looking/outside gigs but I think following your experience, I'm going to start plugging it in at the rehearsal room!
4. I thought the film was cheesy nonsense. Soundtrack equally bad!
5. +1 to all this. Ordered one for my Trace combo and it's a great fit. Quality very good too.
6. Sat night - 50th in Surrey for a friend of the band. Function room above a pub. Sloppy first half but cracking second one, firing on all cylinders. Crowd up for it from early in the second half so we turned the setlist upside down and started running out all the big crowd pleasers early. They loved it. Called out a few that weren't on the list and we did them too. They wouldn't let us stop playing which is always good. Took the smoke machine and smoked us and the crowd out! Small venue, so I used my new Trace combo - the 1x15, 300w job that I got from Raydn on this site for £150. It was great, loads of power and worked a treat. Doing a small wedding next week, so will prob use it again. Bags of power and great tone.
7. Is this a closing down sale?
8. Bring it on! (says my osteopath).
9.
All the writing on the back has faded away, but I'm pretty sure it's a 150, there are 2 big blue round things inside, which I presume to be the power transistors.
This is identical to the head I've got in my 1984 4x10 combo. That also has two things (MOSFETs) and is 150w but like you say, LOUD. There should be a date written in the power amp section (the back part) if you unscrew it. My amp tech remarked how smooth and clean these heads sound.
10. Started off playing drums. Got fed up with lugging them about so tried bass because it seemed liked a cross between drumming and playing guitar. This was the 80s and Mark King was making bass look interesting. Learned to play guitar afterwards but bass has always been much more me, I think. Always liked the scale of it - guitars feel tiny in comparison.
11. Still available. Not desp to sell but sensible offers accepted.
12. Macca and his Hofner Violin. Great player, terrible sounding bass.
13. Sean - visit loads of guitar shops while you're out there. Works for me when I travel!
14. It's like the guitar shop of my dreams!
15. Meh - bring back the all-graphite Series 3000.
16. Nice - I fancy one of those. Would defo look good with a black guard.
17. Take a look at this - a mobile studio in a retro Airstream caravan. Cool or what? http://www.rockhopper-studios.co.uk/Itinerary.html
18.
I've found myself listening to many of their tracks waiting for the climax
I prefer Red Hot Dutch personally.
19.
Check the lights at the venue; I had a similar problem which was caused by a rather curious decorative light and the problem was solved as soon as it was switched off.
Dimmer switches and halogen lights are a nightmare. But +1 to the single socket solution above. That's the most likely I would have thought.
20.
I had to sit down through my last band rehearsal as I'd put my back out
I've done my knee in, so I'm in the same boat (or rather, on the same stool). Rock n roll.
21. That's really nice - cheers for that. She's got such a distinctive voice. Made me realise I'd lost a load of her tracks when I swapped computers recently - have just downloaded them again.
