1. We should flashmob the Bass Cellar and start trying everything out. That'd learn em.
2. Bought Ray's Trace combo and he was a really nice guy to deal with. He even dropped it off at my inlaws who live fairly near him without asking for anything. Top bloke!
3. Keep us posted on what the problem was. Hopefully won't cost you too much.
4.
I wonder if lead guitarists have similar get togethers??!!
They'd just try to out-shred each other and it would all end in tears before bedtime. Anyway, when's the next one of these? I'd like to have another go!
5.
can u guys make me feel better or worse by indicating the current market prices.
Is the answer £5 and a packet of Haribo Sour Mix?
6. Nice decking. Basses are not bad, either.
7. Any chance of a "neither" option in the poll please?
8.
Do you you have to put the gain up more for a higher output pick up or a lower output pick up?
Low output pickup. It's sending less signal, so you have to boost the gain to get the level. It's why a lot of amps have different inputs for passive and active basses (which send out a much hotter signal).
9. Forgot to take this to the bash yesterday, so here's a Sunday morning bump.
10.
The looks on the wedding party's faces as the wandered past "Stay away from the scary men dear..... you don't know where they've been & they associate with drummers"
Haha...I did see a few people dressed in morning suits and hats stop and peer in to see what the noise was. Their faces were a mix of confusion and slight disgust.
11. I've also stopped taking a backup unless the gig's a really big one. Like Kiwi, I carry around tools, batts, strings etc. If I do take something though, it would be my Yamaha BB614.
12. Really good day thanks; good to meet loads of nice people and try loads of different basses. Hats off to Nik (silverfoxnik) and Martin (Merton) for organising it all, the day went really quickly, which is a good sign. Highlights included playing Ped's Vigier (action so low that it virtually plays itself), CK's mojo'd Stingray (great vintage vibe), Mert's J-Retroactive (very stealth) and playing through WalMan's MarkBass combo (loads of power from a small light box), philthebassist's Hartke rig (great trouserflapper). Enjoyed the demos and got my G&L set up by Joe White too. Would have loved to have played a Status or three - but sadly no-one brought any. Nice seeing you all - catch you next time. Matt
13.
Some will tell you to buy what they use, or what they are selling
Can't think what to recommend....
14. As the neck and fitting costs £425 alone, that's a great buy!
15. I'm down to three (well four if you include my first bass) too - sold a couple to finance a Status neck and some amps. All three are now gigging basses, which is cool. And I've increased my Trace Elliot collection into the bargain.
16.
I have some I can bring.
I'm not sure I want to break cover.
17.
Never use 13 amp fuses. I don't know Warwick but I would guess that you shouldn't put anything larger than a 5 amp fuse in the mains plug.
Why?
18.
if i can get the money back on my faulty 3.2 head i will definitly buy this if its still available. do u offer any kind of warranty if it goes wrong soon after purchase?
Fraid not - I'm not a shop. But you have my word that it's in perfect working order. I've sold a fair bit on this site and have always been honest. Only selling this because I got into Trace Elliot. Edit: should stress that the £175 price is for collection only at the bass bash on Sat. £200 is the price if you want it shipped.
19.
I'll just stick with my big bodied basses (the way basses are meant to be hehe).
Horses for courses, I guess, but I'm with you. I can't get on with Warwicks and the like - feel too small. Give me a big bass anyday!
20. Got any dimmer switches nearby? They're terrible for causing buzz - even if they're in the next room or on the other side of the house. Failing that - I've got a more powerful Profet 5.1 for sale that doesn't buzz.
21. Never seen one of these before - a Trace amp for electronic drums. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Trace-Elliot-EPAS-40...id=p3286.c0.m14 Must have been for all those Simmonds kits in the 80s. "bee bo bow boo"
22. Why is it though that when you're GASsing for lots of stuff, it's expensive and when you're not, prices fall?!
23. Makes no difference to your playing - just might affect how often you get let out to go and play.
