1. Stingray sound for not very much money type bump.
2. There speaks the voice of experience - good advice!
3. Thanks for the heads up - looks interesting.
4. I can see where your man's coming from - I don't think there's much point in playing pubs where they don't promote the night/no-one turns up. It's soul destroying. I'd rather go an rehearse and learn some new tunes for a better gig. But if you are bored with the current band, you're doing the right thing by putting some feelers out early doors.
5.
What did you see up that birds skirt?
Probably a scary looking C#m7
6.
I can clap or click, find it hard to tap my foot along with it though!
I was just going to say - tap your foot while you play. It's a good metronome. Also - keep it simple. 2 notes in a bar played in sync with a drummer will always sound better than some crazy Peter Hook bassline.
7.
£460 now I feel sick. Bargain, it goes to show there is no money out there.
Bidder look a bit sus. Zero feedback.
8.
MB1. THE PLOT THICKENS!
Hey, relax Inspector Morse! I was going to trade this, then I changed my mind. I'd like to free up the cash to pimp my Stingray. Platypus was coming to buy this but PM'd me today to say he was going to start selling rather than buying too. I've already had lots of interest on this - so if you're after a G&L - don't hang about.
9. Back for sale - buyer changed mind before seeing it. £350 collected, £400 with hard case. Cheers, Matt
10. You're fine - lot of bassists do both. I was taught thumb behind the neck but prefer thumb over the top for rockier stuff.
11.
MB1. P.M Returned!
Flirt...
12. Lot of bass you're offering for £525 their Keir. G&Ls sound great - great gigging basses. What happened to that Celtic green L1500 I sold you - still got it?
13. Exciting times. Keep the updates coming and post some pics. ps don't forget to tune up before every take...
14. That's a tasty bass. One too many strings for me but have a bump.
15.
Well, I've really opened a can of worms here. Every one has an opinion I guess. I am leaning towards Ashdown. The mag 300 210 is a little over my budget and maybe too powerful for just playing at home. I like the look of the EB 15-180 EVO11 though.
Don't be frightened of buying something powerful. You'll soon be reaching for that master volume control as soon as you get anywhere near a drummer! ps earlier your avatar was a friendly looking bloke playing bass - now it's like Eminem.
16. Ok, if you're not taken with the Rumble, then maybe it's not for you. I used to have a 100w that got me back into pub gigs really well. I could have carried on with this but then I discovered this place and the cycle of buying and selling began. I don't have any experience with the others on your list although people talk highly of the Roland and Line 6. Thought about second hand? There are some great buys to be had at the moment. Also another thought for you. I don't actually have a practice amp anymore since getting a small mixer and a pair of active monitors. I simply plug into the mixer and jam along with stuff. You could prob set yourself like that for £150.
17. Hi aceuggy. What do you need it for. Home practice or gigging. If gigs, what size venues? You might also want to think about Fender Rumbles. Very good combo amps.
18. I'm with Allianz and they insist of serial numbers of the stuff I take out of the house.
19. Anyone got/had a Nordstrand? Are the pole pieces flush? That would be ok. Mine stick up too much. So to speak.
20.
Apart from a mate coming for the first set, there was no one in. No-one.... not one person (except for the two girls behind the bar)... so it turned into a rehearsal.
Bit soul destroying!
21. Tube of superglue. Pick on each digit. Let your fingers do the walking!
22.
Ask yourself this! Most of us (would like to think) that we could spot the difference in tone between a Fender P bass and a Jazz agreed... so what is the main difference between the 2 basses? Body wood? Construction? ...?
Brilliant - I love a quiz. A: pickups. What do I win?
23. Change of plan - this is now up for sale. Get in quick! Please see first post for price.
