1.
Head £160 4 x 10 £200 1x15 £100
Now that's a deal! Give me a shout when you want to sell it and get a Mark Bass combo.
2. That's a great looking rig - looks as new. Was it a bargain or did you have to cough big $s for it?
3. Was it a new one? I'm really interested in having a play through one of those. They look the dogs. I remember turning up at this rehearsal place a couple of years ago. Normally the backline's rubbish and thrashed to bits but at this place, they had a pristine old-style Trace 15" combo. Plugged in an OLP Stingray copy and like you, was doing a double take at the sound coming out of the speaker. I now get that sound out of my old Trace combo and Trace head.
4. I'm toying with the idea of swapping the stock pickup in my Stingray for an aftermarket one. One reason's just to experiment, the other's that I really don't like the pole pieces sticking up on the stock one. Would much prefer a "flat" soapbar type of pickup. I'd also be wanting to heat things up soundwise rather than cool them down. Also, my Ray suffers from the "quiet G-string" syndrome - and fairly low output. I'd be hoping a new p/u would remedy that to some extent too. Anyone got opinions about what I should get please?
5. I fell for a used (and slightly scarred) 20th anniversary Ray that was in a store in Florida, while I was out there a couple of months ago. But their rock bottom price was £750 with no case and the possibility of getting clobbered for tax at customs coming back. Knowing the market here at the moment, I had to put it back on the wall.
6. He's going to take some better pics as the ones above don't do this amp justice.
7. Mr Horse-Murphy, are you coming to the Guildford bass bash? And more importantly, are you bringing this with you?!
8. That looks like the mutts nuts! You must be thrilled. The finish is great and the neck looks the biz.
9. I think they fill American basses with concrete before shipping them out. That's why they all weigh a ton!
10. Nice - what's it sound like?
11. Albums by a new singer songwriter from Chicago called David Thiele and a band called Millicent Friendly (who sound like Jellyfish). Both are £5 downloads from a really good independent music website called www.cdbaby.com as recommended by NancyJohnson on this site. People moan that the net's killing music - but I listen to/buy a bigger variety of stuff now than I ever did.
12. I reckon anyone hands over the cash, that curtain in the photo will help perfom a disappearing act.
13. Session "Sessionette" guitar combo. 90w, 4x10. Great tone - think they're made in the UK. It belongs to Pete, the guitarist in my band who's bought a new Marshall stack to indulge his rock star fantasies. He says he needs to sell some stuff as his living room's "starting to look like Iron Maiden's backline...". £100 ono will do the trick. He's based in SW London, near Wimbledon and it's collection only. PM me if you're interested and I'll give you his number. Edit: got to say these pics don't do it justice - looks much better in the flesh. Guitarist is off on at end of next week, so if you're interested you might want to give him a call this weekend.
14.
....the SMX was just there to test the cab.....havent managed to lug it up to the 2nd floor yet!! It is for sale....along with an 1153, and a 2103....as it happens
What's the power rating on it pls? PM me with what you're after for it, if you prefer. Thanks.
15. "What's that coming over the hill - is it a monster...?" Bet that sounds huge. Are you selling the head too?
16. As CK said - factor in about 20% to total price to cover import tax and VAT. Remember that cost *includes* shipping. Not sure why you should have to pay import duty and VAT on the postage - but there you go. I've done it a couple of times with basses and it's been easy. Always used US Postal Service (USPS) as it's the cheapest but as said above, it arrives via ParcelForce and they always make you pay the 20% taxes.
17.
Did a gig for Peter Jones (Dragons Den) last night, was his sister in law's 50th! He was really complimentary of the band, in particular me.....
This your originals band - or a covers off shoot? He should have offered you some Dragon's Den cash and done a double signing with Hamfat, or whatever they were called.
18.
I don't think it's for anybody at that price!
His Ebay login is "Cars and Guitars". Maybe he gets the prices mixed up!
19. Nice bird table. Basses aren't bad, either...
20. Beauty clearly is in the eye of the beholder with that one - cos it's not for me!
21. Hey??! What.... I didn't even see this one!
22. Blimey - that barely got in the hallway! Shame I've traded the G&L - otherwise we'd be talking!
