1. It's more ugly than an actual Rick! Like the demon offspring....
2. White lines? Don't do it. /gets coat
3.
Ooo yeah! I've 'ad 'er for many years, just fallen in love again (natural graphite Series 2000 #27) - plays like lightning through a warm slab of `can't believe its not butter'!
When's that going up for sale please? That's the one I want!
4. When playing a wedding, never refuse a kiss from the appreciative bride. Esp when they're fit.
5. You might want to look at Earth Terminal near Farnham. It's in an oast house in the middle of the countryside but near Jct 5 of the M3 (Odiham). Some famous songs have been recorded there. Only ever rehearsed there but it had a nice feeling about the place.
6.
I hope to make it there and see the sights and meet some of you someday.
Hop on a flight to Heathrow - you're welcome to come to the Basschat "South East Bash Bash".
7. FS: Fender Bass by Klaus Blasquiz (paperback book) Book for all you Fenderheads. Lots of anorak facts* and pics of Fender basses. It's a bit of a quirky book, the author's German I think, but it's packed with stats and detail about Precisions, Jazzes and the more obscure models. Very good condition. Some marks on the back cover (there from new) but otherwise a-ok. £6 posted (*anorak not included)
8. Blimey - that's not a finish you see often!
9.
Oops ! though you were asking if anyone getting odd private MASSAGE P
You should be so lucky...
10.
stingrayfan - Thank you, that's a very kind offer. But... erm... No.
Oh well, it was worth a try... Joking aside, have you looked at the new Trace combos. With your budget you could easily afford one. Not heard any reviews good or bad about them, but I know they offer a lot of power for a relatively small size.
11. Silverfox - I might be able to make this after all. Got to be at the outlaws in the PM but could do a drive-by in the morning. Not sure what gear I can bring as I'll be en-route to East Anglia but might be able to bring a G&L Tribute if anyone wants to have a go. Maybe my Trace head too?
12. You can have the 25 year old Trace combo in my garage for £1k. When do you want to come and pick it up?
13. Bassists are a bit strange. Well we must be - we're the only ones in the band who know how to get to the gig, bring all the bits we need, remember to print a setlist (and spares) etc!
14.
I took the bass to a band practise and the drummer couldnt hear me. I couldnt hear me either.... I put it down to low output pickups and am seriously looking for an upgrade.
Not sure changing the pickups will immediately solve it. My P bass has got modded pickups but I find it still doesn't have the bite that an active bass does. You might be better off trying out a pre-amp pedal like an Aphex Bass Xciter or a SansAmp which will make the sound hotter.
15. Nice cab WoT - but spill the beans - how pricey was it?
16.
Best pint on offer is Boddingtons (pah!)
Yeugh.
17.
Been browsing Talkbass for want of something better to do and have noticed that they have twee little clubs for everything from Rickenbackers to tatoos. It's like everyone has to start a club or they're no-one
All a bit cliquey for my liking. You can bet that those who own the best basses and belong to the most clubs have never done a gig for anyone else but their "Mom".
18. I remember lusting after one of these back in the 80s. Have a bump on me, sir.
19. "Grab yourself a bargain..." must be the most overused phrase on Ebay.
20. You'll struggle getting a bite with no pics. Esp at the moment. The market is very slow.
21.
I say this each time one of these theads comes up: Andy Rourke, of The Smiths. Fantastic player.
+1 Andrew Levy - Brand New Heavies Michele Stodart - Magic Numbers Mark Stoermer - The Killers Mark Bedford - Madness
