1. What's your ideal bass tone - and have you got it yet?
2. Birds of a feather flock together. Ergo, idiots are looking for idiots to be in their "please like me, NME" type bands. Play with a few older people who are less driven by fashion and desperation to make it and get your mojo back!
3. Those Mark Bass ears must be bigger than Prince Charles' to get it to fit into a 2u rack!
4. I thought it was 'coming soon'...
5. Imagine the Ebay and PayPal fees on that one!
6. I changed the bridge on my BB614 to a Gotoh I got from somebody on here but by the looks of things, the bridge on yours is fairly chunky. Otherwise, Yamahas are pretty good. Change whatever you don't like but - as the old saying goes - if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Plus on the whole, modified basses (like cars) tend to be less desirable than original ones. Don't spend more than the bass is worth, you'll never see the money back. If you're looking for a project, you might want to think about "pimping" a P bass. Either get a Mex P or Jazz and get hotter pickups and new scratchplate or buy on the cheap SX copies that people on here rave about. Good luck - and tell us what you do!
7. Ouch - this hurts. Would love the combo for practice at that price. It's just in the wrong part of the country!
8. You're right - someone would have had the cab for spares and the head would be good for someone starting out. But putting the two together? It's like bass amp equivalent of stone cladding.
9.
I went to Digital Village in Romford (NE London) today to buy the Yamaha BB614 in Yellow Natural Satin and I also picked up a Marshall MB 15 Practice Amp
Good lad - you'll be happy with those for a long while to come. I think the BB614s are excellent basses - great feel, build quality and sound. I like mine so much, I'm currently using it as my main gig bass. It's light and sounds great. Enjoy yours!
10. Really pleased with the Trace Elliot 250w head I got from Beedster for £150. Currently running it through my Warwick 4x10. The old GAS is setting in though and I'm thinking: "How about getting a matching secondhand Trace 4x10 to go with it....?" I see a lot of people are getting rid of them because they're heavy...but what do they sound like? Much better than my Warwick do you think?
11. Shame you don't live closer...I'm quite interested. Don't spose you're planning to come further south soon are you?
12.
I got up to £2.10 then gave up. someone really wants it.
I'd want change from that....
13. Take a Trace Elliot combo - and then do this to it. Don't all rush to bid now...
14. Poor bloke...he's bought a lemon there unless it's a shill bid.
15.
I got a Shuker with Delano pups and a Markbass rig.
Tried ditching the pedals and just using the bass-->amp? Go back to basics and see if the tone's richer...
16. I admire you guys who have the motivation to do these kind of builds. I'd love to mod a bass but I can't even get myself organised to clear out the garage!
17.
Nothing's stopping people getting a luthier to spray the headstock and getting the decals put over the top...
You're putting ideas into my head, stop it!
18. Always been a bit suspicious about Eden stuff. Too many knobs and switches! Try Trace or maybe SWR. Plugged a SR through an SWR head and Goliath cab once and it sounded great.
19. Gross. Only suggestion is to air it for a while at the next stretch of good weather. Fold it inside out and stick in on the washing line for a few days.
20. Why do so few basses have colour-matched painted headstocks? To my eye, it makes them look unfinished. Wonder if there's a historical reason why they never bothered to spray the head the same colour as the body. Cost or fashion?
21. If it's for home use, it'll be fine. Not sure you'd want to be faffing about with it in a gig situation, mind. It's much easier to hit a pedal, mute your bass, tune it, then hit the pedal and start playing. Esp when it's dark.
22.
Clearly this is a very heavy rig...
Looks like it!
