How does this compare to Fender Rumble 100? I've been advised that Fender don't make good amps.
I gigged a Rumble 100 for a year with no problems at all. It's probably the best 100w combo on the market. Clean sound and never distorted. Only cons: bit heavy to lift with top handle (fit side handles and wheels) and comes with a flashing light at bottom.

Not bad at all... Should hold/increase its value too. Nice one. Full report when you get it please....
Intriguing - I thought the whole USP of the Skyline series was that they were essentially manufactured in Korea, but taken back to the good ol' US of A to have the electrics fitted properly!
Tsk... Wouldn't happen on a G&L Tribute... Actually I tried out a Lakland Skyline in a shop in States the other day and was quite impressed with the playability it - it was a Bob Glaub I think. It was $1000 and the guy said it didn't even come with a gig bag!

Pickups seem to make a massive difference to sound. As do active electronics. Active basses always seem to cut through a live mix. As for more organic things, it's in the ear of the beholder. Does Ash sound better than Basswood? Probably. Ask me to A/B it blind though and I might struggle to tell them apart. There's another point to consider. If you're making basses, people remember the quality after they forget the price. If the tuners look and feel cheap and the bridge is thin, people will judge your bass on that. But if the £8 Ebay tuners as no different to the branded ones, go for it!

Great bass, great price You've got to go to Ipswich to get it

300w will give you enough oomph for small to medium gig but it varies from amp to amp - some seem louder than others. There's a 300w Trace Elliot combo up for sale on here that would do you proud.

Damn GAS just won't go away - but slightly relieved now

Nice work - it's exactly the same as mine. You'll find it cuts through live really well. -
I do like G&Ls, especially when they come with custom options; http://cgi.ebay.com/New-G-L-USA-SB-2-Sea-F...1742.m153.l1262
The colour is eugh. Makes me want to cough up my own sea foam! Clearly a Marmite finish...

G&L Tribute L2500 Now SOLD to Noisedude!
stingrayfan replied to yorks5stringer's topic in Basses For Sale
If it's any help to a prospective buyer, the quality of these Tributes is so good, they're my number 1 gigging bass of choice at the moment. And I own a MM Stingray and a MIA Precision (oh, it says that below...doh!). They've got loads of attack and presence, the build quality is first rate and they're light too. The woods aren't as good as an American but then what you lose in grain, you save in weight. Bad back, anyone? Worth the money for the electrics alone. Then there's the bridge which is better than a BadAss etc etc... -
Hi, Could anybody advise a cheap source for self adhesive blank white CD labels & what I should expect to pay - haven't got a clue! Many thanks
WHSmiths sell them in the larger stores for about £10 a pack. I bought Audiolabel for the PC and it's been troublefree. Works great for demo CDs. Edit: here's the link for Audiolabel

Either that's a massive amp or you live in a doll's house - your sofa looks tiny in comparison! Bump for a great combo. For all the people wondering: "what amp do I buy to play covers in pubs?" here's the perfect solution. Yes they're not light but the power and tone is fantastic. I'm quite tempted myself!
...also found this cheapo option 1/4" jack to USB cable
I'd avoid going supercheap as you'll end up using it once, being disappointed that it sounds noisy and rubbish and stick it in a drawer somewhere. I've got a Line 6 Toneport UX2 which cost about £110. I wouldn't say it's the best USB interface in the world ever but fits with the GarageBand "plug and play" style of recording. It's records guitar, line in, phantom powers condenser mics and the software's really good too. Good fun (especially when you start plugging lead guitar into it) and defo worth a look. There's also a cheaper version for £65 which might suit your budget better. A/B'd my UX2 with a more expensive Edirol box recently and couldn't detect a difference. Get one and have fun. Have recently converted to Mac myself and am bowled over by GarageBand. After using Cubase on PC, it's a breeze and so easy to use.

Go on then... which one bit of kit (bass, amp or FX) do you regret selling on? Doesn't matter if it's a tuner or an Ampeg 8x10. Mine's a Fender Rumble 100 combo. Sold it on when I got a head and cab. Wish I still had it to take to rehearsal rooms with me as all their amps are terrible and that was a great combo for practice. Never distorted. And yours....? ps Anyone got a Rumble 100 going cheap?!
-
JTS929. Solid as a 58 but a bit brighter and more output. Plus at £25 a go, they're cheap to replace when invariably, some drunkard knocks your mic stand over while flailing around.
...might be better off getting a non-music career (notice I didn't say proper job ) and keeping the music as something you can do at weekends and evenings....
It's a good point. If you're dependent on something for a living, you're then driven by financial motives rather than fun.

OP +1 We've done this a couple of times when we couldn't get into a rehearsal place and it is really good for working out stuff. That said, you cant beat a good old full-volume job for hearing what the songs will gig like. I find I need the drums to cement the bassline.

Just back from playing in the bar at Harlequins RL vs Hull at Twickenham Stoop. Good crowd, despite it being Sunday. People are clock-watching on Sunday and not drinking too much but we kept them there and got them dancing about and cheering for more. Done by 7.30pm which is a result.
