1. What happened to the Rickenbacker you recently bought?
2. I've not noticed it on any of mine. Sounds bizarre.
3.

That neck's amazing. Looks like tapioca pudding! Swap you a green L1500 for it, if Dub Junkie doesn't want it.
4.
Well shes mine now! How does that striptease music go...........
I wondered where that old ZX Spectrum of mine had gone. I've still got a copy of Horace Goes Skiing if you want to load it onto the bass.
5. Name a price and upload some pictures - that should get some interest going.
6. Hmm strange. Not sure what to advise. Anyone else?
7.
I know it sounds harsh but for me, treating others with a little consideration is of paramount importance.
'Tis a bit harsh. This is a fun forum, not a business promising next day delivery.
8.
My post Xmas GAS has started already now and ive only had my new P for less than a month :-(
This is quite a different beast to a P. It's like a "pimped" P bass. Although you can get a Precision or Jazz sound out of it, it's quite zingy. That said, it cuts through the mud of guitars and drums live really well and sounds great when I play "Down In The Tube Station" or "Town Called Malice" on it.
9.
My L-2000 arrived yesterday!! What a tone machine!!!!! Unlimited different tones!! Pics to come
Now you know why've I become addicted to them. Can't take any other bass to gig with at the moment because I'm hooked on using them. Enjoy!
10. Winter's here and that would be great on the fire. It's actually a magic neck - if you look closely the nut disappears and reappears. Perhaps it's the ghost of Leo Fender. WoooOOOOOooooo.
11. Frustrating, isn't it? Ask them to send it via US postal service (USPS) rather than a courier. Should only cost about $80 for a bass in a box or $110 for a bass in a case (rough prices). This comes via Parcelforce who *will* make you pay the taxes on both the bass and the shipping and they'll stick a £10 handling charge on top. Allow 20% on top of what you paid (inc shipping) to cover all this.
12. Amps do make a difference to your sound but then so does the stage you play on and the room you play in. I played a venue last weekend where the sound was terrible. Two months earlier, the sound was great. Same equipment on the same settings! At end of the day, it's your ears that will tell you what's good and bad, so try a few things out and see what you like.
13. He may use GK on the road - but the chances are he prob did something completely different in the studio or the engineer whacked the DI'd input through a load of compressors and effects on ProTools or the like. He's got a very compressed sound - the preshape on the Trace Elliot stuff will get you somewhere near. My G&L Tribute's got a great slap sound - pair that up with a Trace and you're in Flea heaven.
14.
Bill Wyman is 71-ish and still touring... that's pretty durable.
He's durable and most of his girlfriends are still pretty flexible.
15. In answer to your Q, the new ones are just as heavy, I think. All those American basses seem to weigh a ton.
16. Oh, I think we need to see pics of this, surely? Get em up!
17. Matching headstock looks great, don't know why they don't do this as standard. Good luck with the sale.
18.
It's a bit like Vintage cars vs Modern cars; the new ones are more streamlined, aerodynamic, fuel efficeint etc, etc but older cars somehow look more quirky and cool to me, if that makes sense?
Luddite.
19.
Just got them in in time, this lot have been round to 'sus the joint'. Peter
Sorry, which one's got the Villex pickups?
20. No sense in buying a vintage Fender if you want to get away from earth hum and dodgy electrics. Try something more modern: a Stingray, Warwick, G&L L2000. Lots of people swear by the Lakland jazzes here - maybe try one of those.
21. Hello from 20 mins away. Welcome to the site.
22.
where do they go? what happens to them all?
They end up in the same places as all the biros.
