1. Good review Mr Machines. I actually love the look of the back of the bass, it's like the 80s Arias. If the front looked like the back, I'd be interested. Not a massive fan on the fancy woods but I realise a lot of people like them. Can't get the first three sound clips to work, but the funk one sound nice a hi-fi. Top work Vintage.
2. Put it on Ebay. Mine sold within a day.
3. Actually think it's powerful humbuckers and active EQ. I wouldn't say Precisions are very punchy unless they're being attacked with a pick (or maybe a pickaxe).
4. What was the first bass you ever played and the first you ever owned? I'll start: Played: Awful black Hondo II (with action like Clifton suspension bridge) Owned: Westone Thunder 1A natural (loved it and still got it)
5. Rob Hawkins, The Automatic: "what's that coming over the hill, it is a monster?" etc. All my others have been mentioned....
6.
My dream bass turned into a complete toilet as you can see in my avatar!! It played so badly it went straight to ebay without spraying!!
Spraying or spaying?
7. + what he said. Factor in 20% on the total of the bass AND the shipping and you'll get a realistic figure. If it's still a bargain after you've done the sums, go for it, as it's no more difficult that mail ordering in the UK. ParcelForce will send you a letter about the customs duty before you get the parcel.
8.
oh man..that blueburst looks awesome!
Thanks. Took the blue one into a small studio earlier today to record a new demo for my covers band and it sounded ace - really meaty and punchy. Even the engineer recording it said how great it sounded.

10.
the rehersal place is called silent hill how cool is that
And run by a cool guy called Jules. Here's his website.
11. I'll buy it, if you promised to take/collect to every gig. Good luck with the sale, someone will love it.
12.
The fact that you don't see too many around is partly due to incompetent distributors who don't know how to market them properly G&L has bounced between at least 4 or 5 distros in the last 10 years, all who claim that they were a 'hard sell'. FCN are distributing them in the UK at the mo, and so far, so good. People seem to be waking up to the brand as a whole. The new JB-2 and SB-2 look especially delicious Tell your friends!
Hey - we don't want everyone getting one! Just the people here who've expressed some GAS.
13.
' post='93960' date='Nov 24 2007, 09:57 PM']wot eva u "elderly man" nd im 13 nd probs a way better bassist thn u!
Is that a sentence?

15. How much?! That's a lot of dosh for something that looks like a creme caramel.
16. I've always just screwed them straight into the cab in place of the rubber feet and never had any problems. Try to get some with locking wheels - helps with wonky stages.
17. Bejesus... Does it come with a roadie?
18.
' post='93943' date='Nov 24 2007, 09:32 PM']but only 4 his style cus its a immense bass but jst not suited 4 him as the stingray or the modulas
Knock it on the head with the text speak please. Most of us here are over the age of 12 and don't think it's "gr8".
19. No worries, let me know how you get on.
20. At first glance, it looks like you're building a huge double bass. Hope you've got the dimensions right. Haha. Welcome to BassChat. I live about half an hour from you in Fleet in Hants, but my covers band rehearses in Guildford. Either at Silent Hill or Garden Studios.
21. The Warwick amps are really good for the cash (heavy but good chunky feel) but you'll prob find that one a bit underpowered. It's only 250w into 4 ohms. Connect that to an 8 ohm cab and you'll be lucky to push 200w out of that. Best bet is to buy a new Profet 3.2 for £180 as you'll also get 12 months guarantee. Also keep an eye on the classifieds here, as they crop up from time to time at good prices.
22. Sounds like we're getting a little G&L Tribute fanclub going here. Quite right too though! I reckon these Tributes are ace and compare to Fender in build quality and to Stingrays in sound. I also like the fact you don't see too many around. If there's a bass bash coming up, I'll bring em along for people to try out.
23.
I'm sure this must contravene a rule or something...
Nah.. this rabbit's all white.
