Check the gain on the amp isn't set too high. Wind it down and wind the master volume up. Set all the EQ flat. Otherwise, are you using active bass? If so, change the battery in the bass.

I do too. It's hard at first and feels really strange but you do get used to it. I find I need to learn the bass line first and then do the backing over the top but it feels natural to do now. To answer your question, go for it. It'll make you much more more marketable and actually, it's quite enjoyable.

Nice to hear someone say something nice about a guitar shop instead of moaning about them. I hope you bought something and didn't run off to buy it online.

Cheat some more. Find out what songs they all like, and rip the riffs and licks from those and bring them to the practice. Works for me...

Hmm... interesting. If you're happy with the type of gigs they're coming up with and you're getting good money for them, then should be fine. Keep us posted please.

Rock N Roll Star - Oasis. On paper, it should work fine: well known song, glam rock feel but people don't go for it. They're at the bar before the vocals start. Maybe it's how we do it. It's on the subs bench these days. Only for emergencies.

There's not much between them, got to say. The natural one feels a bit more worn-in and woody, and the blue one a bit more new and "zingy". The blue one also looks that little bit classier in the flesh, because of the blueburst finish and rosewood neck. Shame they don't colour-match the headstock, as it would look great. Both have a similar growly-yet-snappy sound. My Stingray's not had a look-in at a gig since the first one came along. Not only do they sound better all round, they're lighter too. Picked up the SR the other, thinking I should give it a gig, and put it back in its case. Boy, did it weigh a ton compared to these ones. I also find I have to roll the treble of my SR4 to get rid of that inherent "clacky clacky" sound which make the bass sound a bit dull. These puppies are happy to have everything wide open and not a clack in sight. I really should come down off the fence and tell you if I like G&L Tribs or not, eh? Haha.

Just arrived from the States. So pleased with my L2000 Tribute, I bought another. Although this one has a maple neck and was S/H from Ebay. Came with a G&L case though. Cost me just over 350 quid inc delivery and all taxes. Slightly over the odds, but what the hell. Cleary used, with a few battle scars and rusty screws, but great low action and played-in neck. Doesn't feel squeaky clean new which is nice. With a fresh set of nickels on, it sounds great. Very playable, growly and bright. Haven't used in anger yet, so don't know how it'll sound loud. Will report back. And here's a pic of my other one. Also a Tribute L2000.

What about an Aerodyne? I had one and it was nicely made and looked the dog's. Sounded great with a pick, I just couldn't get on with the vintage feel.

It's funny how he can pinpoint the year that the machineheads were changed but, oh, erm, can't, erm, remember, what year his brother-in-law bought it. The bass that the brother-in-law's had from new. Perhaps he could just ask him? It's not as though he was trying to make out it was super rare or anything. Saying that, Fender Ps with gold hardware and a whopping great chunk out of them, are hard to find...

I like it. Nice and punchy. Good stuff.
