1. Nice bass. What's the bassline on the strap?
2. Welcome back to the low end. You've got your amp - next step - get gigging!
3. The Tribal Planet ones are prob the best of the lot if a hard case is out of the question.
4. Gibson are launching a self-tuning Les Paul. If they did a bass version though, would us bass players go for it? I guess it would be handy at gigs just to press the button between songs and get into tune instantly. You could press the button with one hand and swig the beer with the other. I'm liking the sound of that.
5. Lovely looking bass. I had one of these until recently, it played and sounded fantastic. If it was a 4er, I'd have kept it. They're like a Stingray and then some. Good luck with sale.
6. Get something S/H. It'll probably last you longer, as you won't want to upgrade so quickly. Plus, you'll also lose your money as soon as you buy that Behringer cab.
7.
In fact, the switching on the RBV reminds me of your G&Ls and on that note, any sign of the new L2000 yet?
Parcelforce have it held to ransom until I give them 69 quid. Hopefully pick it up in the week.
8.
I've got a bad habit of making rash, over favourable judgements about how good a new piece of gear is after using it for just one or two gigs.. And then 3 months later, I realise I was completely wrong..
Cab sounds great. I look forward to making you a really low offer for it, when it appears in the 'For Sale' section in three months time.
9. Try a lighter bass for a while. I didn't really notice how heavy my Ray was until I started playing other basses. Now I pick it up and it feels like it weighs a ton.
10. +1 on no name. You'll get ripped off if you want a logo attached. See if you can find something on Thomann.
11. Haha - here are three: 1. Jaco Pastorious - "you're a bass player, you must love Jaco". Jazz funk widdling. Thanks, but I'll pass if you don't mind 2. Stanley Clarke - see above. 'School Days'? I'd rather be in detention. 3. Victor Wooten. See reason 1 Bass players I've come to admire: 1. Flea - soulful and inventive 2. Bruce Foxton - as a bass player, playing his lines is a pleasure 3. Mark Stoermer (The Killers) - inventive and clever use of melody and licks 4. Andy Rourke (The Smiths) - same as 3.
12. Wouldn't it just be easier and cheaper to buy a guitar?
13.
$$ to £ is sooo cool at mo it'll more than likely be a new one rather than paying £700/800 for 2nd/3rd/ onwards hand ones.
If you're planning to buy one from Ebay or similar and get it shipped in, don't forget to factor in 20% of total price (inc shipping) for customs. If it's still a good deal with that 20% added on top, go for it. I think Stingrays are great basses (hence the moniker). But they do suffer from being very heavy and not the most comfortable to play. Punchy sound though, which is what it's all about. Have a look at G&L L2000s too.
14. They're great for passive basses - bit pointless with active ones as they're just active EQ on top of active EQ. Disagree with the comment about these pedals making up for crappy gear. You could say the same about active basses. Is a Stingray or Warwick rubbish because it's got active EQ? Watch out for the input/output jack sockets on them though - they're not built to last. Would be wise to mount them on a pedalboard.
15. It's times like this that I wish I hadn't force myself to play right handed. Free bump from a lefty-righty (there are quite a few of us here).
16. They're great value. I've been pleased with mine. It may not be the lightest or the loudest but it sounds good and feels solid.
17. I got excited for a moment because I thought you were selling it. I was starting to think "hmm..would I use it?" Great looking bass. Love the colour.
18. Why do punks only have one knob? No, hold on, it's not a joke...just an observation. The Tom DeLonge Strat is the same as this bass. No tone control, just volume. Is that cos they rip the tone off in a fit of punk rawk?
19.
If anyone's interested, we got drunk a week or so ago and made this demo using reason instead of my drumming skills, and beer instead of talent, and cotton wool instead of monitors, just to aid the mix a bit. www.myspace.com/theprematureejaculatorscomingsoon
I remember my first pint too. ...just pulling your leg.
20. Yeah, come on, you know the deal. Pics or it doesn't exist.
21.
Umm... are you going to eat that Twix? Just wonderin'.
Haha... I was just going to post the same thing.
22. Nice. I'm tempted to buy one for my daughter. She's only three though. Prob a bit too soon - although she is very interested in playing my guitars.
