1. If it's just for home use, you might not need one. Instead buy a small mixer like this for £40 and plug your bass/PC or iPod into that and run it through a hi-fi or headphones. Works a treat for me.

  2.
IMHO, they're great sounding cabs, especially for the price. Big phat big punchy tight sound with the horn and 6x10s.

Gonna miss it to be honest and I'm only getting rid of it because I had the opportunity to have G Major's EBS cabs.
Can defo recommend these cabs. Really punch above their weight for the cash.

  3. Welcome Nick - your story is a familiar one around here - me included. You'll find it's a pretty friendly site, populated by nice people. Keep an eye on the classifieds too, there are some good bargains to be had.

  4. I wish I'd got a Mac instead of the new laptop I bought earlier this year. The Mac software looks great, Vista is awful. Trouble is, when you've gone down the PC route and bought loads of little bits of software for Windows (as I have for my desktop PC), it's a big ask to swap over.

That said, right now I'd like to build a simple website for my band. Can my Vista "Premium" laptop do that? Can it $#$#$#@. I'll prob have to buy a bit of software that won't work properly and then get another one to upload it. Grrr!

If I did buy a Mac as my new desktop PC, could I still use my existing wireless router and my Windows laptop downstairs? I'm guessing yes. But anyone know?

  5. Oh bugger - I've been rumbled. Although because of the postal strikes, I've yet to see my copy.

Thanks Sean for the Trace combo. It sounds great and defo worth the return trip to Bristol to pick it up. I'll prob use it again on Friday night at the local pub.

Watch out for the next issue which should feature another BC'er in the Weekend Warrior slot. I will keep his identity a mystery so as not to spoil the surprise.

Good to hear you're all buying BGM. The more support it gets, the more it can grow.

  6. Current ones are a bit mass produced but still amazing for the cash. The bridge is the only weak thing on them - swap that for a Gotoh or similar and you've got a 500 quid bass for half of that. They do benefit for a good set-up and a cranking up of the EQ. And then you get this kind of sound.

  8.
All subjective I guess, but if it was as bad as everyone says it is, I'd argue that you wouldn't see it on as many concert stages around the world as you do.
True enough. Must have been operator error!

  9. Played through a brand new borrowed Ashdown stack at a gig the other night and it was woolier than a sheep in a jumper shop. And we're not talking the cheap range either - this was an Evo head and top of the range cabs. It was awful. What's all the fuss about?

  10.
any retort to the "you can't play all of them at once so why do you need another one" that anyone's tried? :)
Try: "but you've already got a handbag...why do you need another?"

    Edit: liking that G&L!
