1. Similar thread here which might have some ideas for you: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=67391 After trying/owning quite a few different heads, I'd defo recommend the Hartke LH500 head.
 2. The cab's big and bulky but takes whatever you throw at it. With the Hartke head, it sounds great. Creamy, even. I used to have a Warwick head but found it a bit soul-less for me. Going to gig the Barefaced Compact with the Hartke head in next couple of weeks, so will be interesting to see how that does. Much as I like the sound of the 4x10, it does take up a lot of room in the car and is a two man lift. If the compact can give me the same sound live, I might think about ditching the 4x10.
 3.
I just picked up a 1110 4x10" combo from 1984
....with the help of three friends, I bet. They're heavy beasts. But they sound great - good buy! OP: There's a Hartke LH500 for £200 in the FS section. Get that and a decent 4x10 cab and you'll be laughing.
 4.
What case is that for the hartke? Nice basses, I love G&l cheers
Cheers - the G&L is brilliant. The head's just in a wooden 2u rack. It's quite heavy duty (more than I need), so I was considering swapping it for a rack bag instead. PM me if you're interested in buying the case!

 6. Edit - Nov 09. Adding a couple of extra pics of G&L and Status 4000. Enjoy! Status 4000 (from 1990)
 7. Got a chance to have a first play with the southern Compact at home today (thanks to the loan of one of OBBM's excellent cables - cheers Dave!). For starters, it's the first cab that I've been able to carry up the stairs in one hand. The amp head was heavier - no joking. Set it up in my office and at low levels, it sounded nice and creamy with my Hartke head and G&L/Status basses. Got a rehearsal soon, so will report back on what it sounds like in anger. But overall first impressions are very good. Took some quick snaps to show it on location. They're without flash, so aren't pin sharp. Will do some better ones in the daylight. Matt.
 8. Back to the Dan - I love the music and the basslines just think they're a bit up their own arts. Don't fancy seeing them live; they always look miserable!
 9.
They have done my guitarists amp and two of mine over the last 12 months reasonable prices and good turn round. I picked one up today, repaired with a new transformer, turnround time 3 days. I cant comment about prices as they are a bit out of my way and ive never bought a bass from there.
I'd recommend Steve Rowse in Godalming - bit closer to you and as he works from home, he's a lot more reasonable. Done 4 or 5 amps of mine.
 10.

Blimey - it's a Bling-ray.
 11.
Blimey, how many fences did he own?
Just the one - he sold it to Dr Nick to prop up his 54 basses.
 12. Good price - on the down side, you've got to go to Acne to get it!
 13.
And??? By the way New Brighton is on the Wirral and therefore not part of Liverpool if that really has anything to do with this sale?
It was his geographical reference - not mine...
"...from the New Brighton area of Liverpool."
But it was just a southerner making a lame joke - don't take too seriously.
 14.
just joined up for a bit of a gab really, am happy with my gear as it is and not really looking to update
I think I said that about 15 basses and 5 amps ago... Welcome!
 15. I just tend to hit the mid shape and then add a bit of top if needed with the EQ pot. Never bothered with the 7 or 12 band EQ! Now I tend to use the Hartke which has three EQ pots. Bliss. And gives a similar pre-shaped sound pretty easily. But FWIW, I reckon the pre-shape is the killer selling point of all Trace stuff, past and present. It's what makes those amps so unique.
 16.
Add Kingfisher music in Fleet. They have an onsite workshop in store and Colin is a genius
Hmm interesting... I've always found them to be patronising, over-priced and unhelpful. That's ever since I bought my first (and last) bass from them 25 years ago!
 17.
No seriously, take a look at some of his non-RHCP vids, he's an excellent bass player and always progressing, you can see the progression along the way! Take a look at some of the Stevie Wonder stuff, mature playing. His passion for the instrument is amazing.
+1. He's a talented kid.
 18.
MB1. ....Top of Vmaxblues christmas list....a camera! That looks even better than the for sale pics!
19.
Build a time machine and go back the the shop in Wapping. It was great!
+1. Used to love going there as a teenager.
 20.
Looks identical(!) to the one I have, though, the tuner/bidge bit is a bit more roadworn. still ,works perfecty, just "cosmetic" scratces ect. (serial no 370 I recall) still love that bass, though not played it for a long time. put a pic on "musicman porn thread" as my musicman was in the same photo ( if anyone THAT bothered )
I am - will take a look!
 21. Thanks - I've always wanted a Series 2000. And this is fairly close. I love the classic shape in non-wood. I spose it a result of learning to play in the 80s!
 22. The provenance seems to be good - despite the fact the seller's in Liverpool. The pic seems to show the seller and MK together and MK playing the bass. He must have owned about three hundred basses back in the day. I once played the pillar box red one that was on Running On The Family. It was on sale at the old Bass Centre in Wapping in early 90s. It *was* thrashed to bits, with string grooves in the neck where it had been slapped. Back to this Ebay one though, looks a beauty, whatever the back story is. It's a Series 2000, yes?
 23. In anticipation of this arriving, I found myself drawn to listen to old Level 42 tracks. But now it's here, I don't feel the need to be a slapper; it's got a great fingerstyle tone.
 24.
Ooh, that's an early one!. Very good condition as well by the looks of it. Nice score Try calling Dawn at Status. She has complete lists of the serial numbers/ages of the basses they've made. 01206 868150 Rich.
Thanks - just have. 1990.
