1. I gig mine. Any Stingray fans will feel comfortable with the shape.
2. I think he just wanted it out of the way and wanted some cash. He said since getting a Ken Smith a year ago, he hasn't touched it. He's a pro who tours a lot and I guess basses become more like tools, you get a bit more emotionally detached than those of use who use them at weekends for a hobby. It's six years old.
3. I use an old Westone Thunder 1A to practice on. It's great!
4. Just used them for the first time and delivery was really quick. 3 working days. Ordered on the Thurs, they sent me a note to confirm despatch on Fri and the stuff turned up on Weds. Great comms all the way through - you can see why they've got a good rep. It came via DHL by the way, rather than UPS. Hope your stuff turns up soon!
5. Wish I had a Guitar Center near me! Especially if it was in US$. Always enjoy bring something back when I visit the States. Gotta love that £ against the $.
6. After a new set of nickel strings for a 5-string bass I've just got. Anyone seen any good deals around at the moment please? Not brand loyal - but prefer nickels.
7. It's a bit orange and need a good clean, new strings and a service but it feels really nice. Really played in. Here's a pic to appease/encourage some GAS. Edit: there was no case which was a shame, but all the paperwork. And the nice guy selling it also did me a deal on top of the quoted price.
8. +1 for a Rumble. I sold mine to get a 4x10 setup and I wish I'd kept it.
9. If we're fessing up to 80s guilty pleasures, can I add Curiosity Killed The Cat? Always loved the basslines on that first album, and the sound of the Status he played them on. I'll get my coat...
10.
I think Shure gear has always been artificially higher in price.
Happens with everything else, same's probably true with mics! JTS mics are excellent by the way - they're marketed by Proel. Pick wisely and you'll get champagne for beer money. I've gigged a JTS 929 for over 2 years and it's been excellent. Has survived two drops on the floor with no worries. Got a bit better top end than a 58 too. http://www.dangleberrymusic.co.uk/Items/tm-929? Supplied XLR lead is only good for a spare but you can't grumble for under £20. The JTS NX8 (SM58 copy) is reputed to be excellent too. Looks a bit wierd because Shure threatened to sue when they did the orginal design apparently. 11. Disco Dave's gear...£20k Logo'd t-shirt, £10 Live band filling the dancefloor... Priceless. Nice one Homer.
12. Nice bass & nice pics, good price. In normal times, you've have sold pronto. But it's really slow at the moment. Seem to remember a few Stingray requests in the wanted section though over the last few weeks.
13. Bump - surprised this hasn't gone. Take a punt Fenderfans - you'll love it.
14. Sold - pending payment
15. Pics!!
16. I think it's worth £250 and I've got cash waiting. Seriously, it's a beauty. If you want to swap for an Aerodyne and some £££s, or rather £s, let me know.
17. Google "Amazing Slow Downer" and run the track through that. You'll easily be able to pick out the stuff you can't hear at normal speed. I've just started using it and it's ace.
18.
did you message those guys I told you about? The one offered 400 for mine, maybe he's still after one.
Not yet. I might now be selling it to a guy at work. If he doesn't want it, i'll follow up your leads. Cheers!
19. I got GAS.
20. Be warned: if you're sending a DVD, make sure it's the best possible quality. Professional quality. Not a clip from a camcorder, locked off in the corner of a pub. It will say "amateur band" faster than you can get to the chorus of the first song on it! For a pub band, keep it simple. I send: 1. Demo CD - good quality and well mixed with contact details on. Best song first. 3 or 4 track tops. Print the label if you can using your computer (you can buy sticky CD labels from Smiths) 2. Letter saying hello - again with contact details on 3. Setlist 4. Business card (again you can buy template card from Smiths and get great results with a home printer) If you've got a band logo - print that on everything. Looks good. I'm going to start including a flyer with our upcoming gigs on (makes you look busy and in demand) and a photo. Bottom line, you're better off leaving stuff out of the envelope unless it looks slick.
21. They look like the Village People. Or maybe the Scissor Sisters!
22. Somebody Told Me or Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine - Killers. Both great basslines.
23. Good work. Nice playing. I couldn't do it! Although - how high's he got that guitar?! Makes Mark King look like lowslung!
24.
I really want it, but the girlfriend says 'we' don't need three Fender Jazzes.
Tell her you need a spare for the spare, just in case the spare doesn't work. ;-)
25.
Everything was through the PA, and the only thing you could hear really was the vocals and drums, everything else was just a much of imense low end.
I saw a similar band the other day. A tribute band (obviously used to bigger venues) playing a small bar locally. Everything through the PA and overhead mics on the drums. The soundcheck was *really* loud. They were on in-ears, so didn't have a clue! Classic case of not really thinking about where you're playing. Small bars don't need stadium sound!
