A bass player's guide to Liverpool

Thanks guys, this is great. @TruenoWe will be moving there with our 5 month old son, so if we stick around as I hope we will, maybe he will grow up with the accent! 😃 -
Selling my Keeley Bassist Limiting Amplifier compressor. In good condition with a few small paint chips as you can see. Velcro attached to bottom. I bought this as I wanted a compressor with some metering that was easy to dial in, and it is exactly that. I've just realised I prefer the natural compression of tubes/tube sims, and have my eye on something else of that kind, hence the sale. Can be collected from me in PR4 near Preston, Lancs. (I moved house since originally putting this for sale), or can post for an extra fiver. Thanks for looking. Happy to answer any questions. 👍🏻

ON HOLD - Status/Squier CV Precision - *SOLD*

I'm relocating to Liverpool soon and I'm looking forward to getting to know the area so I thought I'd ask - what recommendations do folk on here have, in terms of places to see live music, bass shops, luthiers, and indeed anything else bass playing related? I know there was a famous bass player from around there (called McCarthy or something like that) and I will be checking out the touristy sights but I bet there are some hidden gems too...

Fender Squier Classic Vibe 70s Precision bass - *SOLD*

Hey, sorry for the late reply - I had covid and things have been a bit sketchy. Although my problems stopped short of the amp actually cutting out, I did find a solution, albeit an expensive one. I bought a new second hand amp, the same MB combo (am I crazy?). I had it shipped to my bandmate's house in Birmingham (we do most of our gigs in the Midlands), used it at a gig last month and it was great. Amp no.1 is playing nicely at the moment for practice - if it starts getting crotchety again I turn all the knobs back and forth several times, and that gets rid of any unwanted crackling. I also have it sitting on a chair for added clarity when practicing. I don't know if that's that helpful to you really... Maybe I should have been twice shy after being bitten, but I love the MB sound - to me it is a wonderful blank canvas. Did you get yours back from Essex Amps, and if so what was their verdict?

[sfx] Micro Headphone Amplifier - *SOLD*

Selling this excellent headphone amp from sfx. The sound is so articulate and clear. These don't come up for sale second hand very often, and I may regret moving this one on. I have recently bought a Torpedo Cab M on here, hence this sale, but I can imagine missing the beautiful simplicity of the Micro H. I noticed that one of the knobs is slightly wobbly (see video) but it works fine. 20220618_121627.mp4

Gruvgear Gigblade EDGE E-Guitar gig bag in decent condition. As shown in pictures, I've been using it for my Squier CV 60s Mustang Bass. There are some velcroed bits of padding inside that can be moved around to accommodate guitars/basses of different sizes or shapes. It's very lightweight and handy to carry over the shoulder - no more snagging your instrument on the top of doorways, low ceilings etc. As pictured there are some slight abrasions to the base and a few small marks on the orange padding inside. Would prefer collection/meet up, but postage considered at extra cost.

Stand alone compressor pedal that is a battery operated?
PaulHornBass replied to MikanHannille's topic in Effects
For some reason I didn't clock that I could run my Keeley Bassist with a battery. Will have to give that a go and see how long it can last. Another compressor that I used to own and has a battery compartment is the DOD Milk Box. Wish I hadn't sold mine now, as they're a bit more expensive to buy secondhand nowadays! -

What did you go for in the end, @MikanHannille? I also have a desire for simplicity in my set up, so would be interested to know... -

An update on the saga. Towards the end of last year, the problems with my MB combo disappeared. A bit of crackle on the volume knob, but otherwise fine. I was so pleased with the amp's Lazarus act that I recently did what I felt I should have done years ago and bought another of the combos via basschat, to live at my bandmate's house in the Midlands, where we do most of our gigs. (I live in South London with no car.) No more going direct or plugging into unfamiliar rigs. Practicing with the same rig I gig with. Great. Then, over the past week, the problems with amp number 1 came back with a vengeance. Crackling and distorted notes up and down the fretboard. So now I'm contemplating whether to: (a) send it off to be repaired; (b) buy a used LM head and attempt to install it (assuming the problem is with the head part); (c) see if I can sell the combo as 'not working' and buy another combo amp/head and cab, perhaps as @TheGreek counselled wisely earlier on this thread, from a manufacturer with better customer service such as Ashdown.

Great compressor in very good condition. Bought recently on here and I like it a lot... I just have my eye on an upgrade. If that object of desire goes before I find a buyer for this, I'll be keeping the Keeley and withdrawing this ad. Obligatory ovnilab review: http://www.ovnilab.com/reviews/keeleygc2.shtml

One Control Sonic Silver Sonic Peg, bought on Basschat following an Items Wanted post. It's a killer pedal, up there with the best I've used, but I'm going in a different direction for my tone shaping needs. One Control product page: https://one-control.com/products/sonic-silver-peg Basschat thread praising the pedal: Pictures to follow!
