do you find you play closer to the bridge naturally on the Stingray (looked like it) though so it would sound tighter

Best to keep the modulation pedals in the fx loop as they’re not boosts and when you want to add reverb chorus or delay to your sound you want that untouched by the colour you add through your EQ.
Although there’s nothing wrong with doing that and many do.
I purchased the Mk1 off the gentleman above you @Jason Karloff this year. It’s a fine bass and I couldn’t keep my hands off it.
when my fretless skills come somewhere close to allow me to play any style as comfortably as I play fretted I shall change it back.
