Here’s a song written in 1917 but released in 1924 by Ma Rainey. There was a more popular version released in 1935 by Lucille Bogan. I think even with today’s lyrics and modern radio editing it wouldn’t get much love as the premise is a guy “making love” to a woman with no regard to her. still it just shows that “us youngsters” didn’t invent the shock pop 😂🤣😋

I never really got on with 5 string bass either even though I gigged with one for a few years, it was just a thumb rest for 99% of the time. if your looking for a decent octave pedal the micro pog has great tracking and also octave up and down so you can get a sweet 8 string or 12 string sound. but I think your best bet might be hipshot D Tuner.

I’ve recommended this before, it’s a series of exercises put together by Tony Franklin. I’m fairly new to fretless myself but I’ve found this series on the TrueFire app extremely useful. It of course needs to be paid for but I think TrueFire are having a sale atm. You get the backing tracks and notation/tab and you can isolate certain parts and loop tracks to practice along with. Some of the content is available on YouTube. well worth a look.

Almost anything off Ten album by Pearl Jam (not Jeremy) you can get your bass face on and go wild. kind of makes you forget there’s no frets.

I’d take a file to them it’s less traumatic than a powered tool, if you need to open up the centres too, if they’re soft metal a fast speed drill, if harder then a slow speed.

I got an old iPad for my 86 year old father for his Facebook and other stuff whatever that may be, he has an old iPhone of mine too, good luck with that, I spend more time trying to find what he’s done to them and “now it doesn’t work” than he does using them 🤣😂🤣
