  1. My other half managed to get tickets on Friday somehow, £170 each. Looking forward to the lineup but I said when it was announced I'd be very surprised if Ozzy manages to do anything at all. I'm currently living with my dad who has Parkinson's and seeing it every day. I imagine he'll get wheeled on and hopefully be able to speak, but can't imagine for a second he'll be able to sing. Thing with Parkinsons is it's different each day, each hour. Horrible thing.
  2. Yes via the tablet apps that's correct - hadn't read the previous messages where it mentioned an Android tablet. I'd done it before on Windows and Mac and saved the scenes, which were then loaded to the mixer. This has been useful to know as well as I'm looking at not using a laptop at a gig, just using tablet, so glad this has been mentioned!
  3. Are you sure you need to be connected if using the Windows/Mac apps? Sure I've done some setups like this before offline, then loaded it to the mixer later. Can have a look later on to confirm.
  4. Nice one, thanks! Ordered a set.
  5. Is that Jerry Douglas on dobro?
  6. Piggy-backing a bit on this thread, but are there any good cheapish recommendations for an Android tablet for the Xr18? I'd prefer something a bit cheaper than the iPad I currently use.
  7. Last year, last band, the venues dry ice/smoke machine went haywire halfway through the set and engulfed us all in a a thick fog. Singer coughing, one guitarist trampled his pedalboard, drummer no clue what was happening and me and the other guitarist nearly wiped out by the sound guy running on stage past us to try and fix it. Audience couldn't see us for a few mins. There's a video of it somewhere.
  8. As expected, a tier 2 fail for me as I've just bought some PA speakers. Also currently pondering a new short scale bass due to my ongoing arm/bicep pain, but I don't have the funds so it's not happening even if I wanted to!
  9. Assume this was The Heathery in Wishaw, Dave? Remember my uncle and aunt going there when I was wee - my dads aunt stayed (and still stays) on Heathery Road. I do vaguely remember my uncle telling me he saw Magnum in there, I told the guitarist in my old band this and he looked at me like I was an idiot! Thought maybe I'd just made it up/had a false memory, but looks like I didn't. I'll have to find out this week who else they saw there.
  10. OK I'm in for this. Tier 1 only as I'll need to get some PA kit this year. It was exactly a year ago I bought my last bass, even though I was intending not to buy any more. This year, external influences should dictate that I don't buy anything more - divorce, finding a new place to live, turning 50 and having a couple of holidays for the first time in years while I milk the milestone. I'm pretty happy with my gear in the main, so fingers crossed I manage this challenge!
  11. I should have had a post on here, as we (Temptation Waits) were due to play the Wheatsheaf Inn in Kirkcaldy on Saturday night. However this shambles of a venue messaged one of our guitarists (not the BL who does most of the bookings, or the other guitarist who got in touch with them in the first place) to say they weren't sure if they could put a band on as they'd not had many customers (5 the previous day) in in the few days before. This was at 1.30pm and we were due to be loading in about 5pm and on stage at 8pm. So we had to fire off messages asking for confirmation on whether we would be playing or not! We were also about to pick up some hired speakers for our PA too. Absolute joke. They got back after a while saying it wasn't going ahead and got a bunch of lame excuses. Thing is, we had well over 20 folk plus their friends heading along, as we know a lot of folk in the area. I reckon they were hoping we'd get back saying we'd accept no fee or a much reduced fee. Would urge other bands to avoid this venue. Guitarists other band were booked in to play the week before, but they hadn't put it in the diary and booked another band instead. And they did zero promotion, only asked for posters and images the day before. I've no idea why places like this bother booking bands. Anyway, a few of us had a band night out instead and went to the Dreadnought in Bathgate to see our pals Lateral Flow and they were excellent as always, despite their bassist being ill in hospital and the guitarists both stepping in and taking a set each on bass. Of course, angry and frustrated as we were, all put into perspective with the incredibly sad news from @dmccombe7 - thoughts with his band, awful thing to go through.
  12. Few of the pics - we'll get the rest on your band FB page when we can.
  13. Cracking gig last night Dave, thoroughly enjoyed it! First time I've seen Blockbustarz, such a good set and energy. As I mentioned, I thought the bass sounded great, I was down at the front and there was no boominess there. Got some pics of you and your Santa cape if you want them posted. Also, Dave wins any footwear contests on here hands down.
  14. This is one of my most watched Tiny Desk concerts, so good.
  15. You only ever come on here to complain about modern music, quality trolling. Like why would you even read this thread, it's not aimed at you or your musical tastes, so you're just doing it on purpose. Pub bore behavior.
  16. Back at the Monarch Bar in Dunfermline with Temptation Waits on Saturday night. Good gig, not much of a crowd for the first set, but got a bit busier and rowdier for the second set when some merry punters arrived. Bar owner had forgotten to order enough stock for the weekend though, so there wasn't much bevvy to go around! We added six new songs for this one, which we got through okay apart from me during Welcome To The Jungle where I went a bar too early to a different section near the end. Oops. From what I can gather, only me and one of the guitarists noticed. Annoyed with myself though. Gear was my Fender Jazz into HX Stomp board, Aguilar Tonehammer 350 head and 2 Markbass NY121 cabs.
  17. I'm intending to head along to this one! Reminded me to check my calendar and get tickets.
  18. Yeah it's a great place to play. Dougie did say they expected it to be quiet as their Halloween party was on the Saturday night and that's their busiest night of the year. The place pretty much emptied a wee while after we finished, even the club bit was empty. A couple of us did go to the Halloween night and it was absolutely rammed!
  19. Played the Dreadnought in Bathgate with Temptation Waits on Friday night, our first full gig proper. I had a ball, set went down well with a smallish but enthusiastic crowd. First gig with the new guitarist and as a five piece, we're all happy with how we sounded, couple of minor slip ups, couple of tunes played waaaay too fast, but on the whole pretty chuffed. Sound in my IEMs was great, soundcheck was less than 5 mins and perfect, thanks to the sound man. Gear - played my Fender Player Jazz for the first time, really liking how this sounds in the mix. My trusty Squier 40th Anniversary Precision was an unused substitute. Played through my HX Stomp based board to Aguilar Tone Hammer 350 head, with the provided Ashdown cab.
  20. Yeah was at the Usher Hall gig. Second set was indeed outstanding. Really enjoying Ensoulment though, I wasn't greatly keen on the singles when they were released, but they work as part of the whole album.
  21. Was there too, first time seeing them, very very impressed!
  22. How amazing was Giant in the encore?
  23. Hey, so I've not had a chance to experiment with chain placing yet, the pre-amp is a new purchase. But I'm intending (at the moment!) to keep it at the end to send my full signal to FoH via the DI. I've removed EQ patches from the Stomp so I can adjust on the fly using the pedal itself, as I find that a bit easier. So far, it's all been good. With a quick cable change I could send the clean signal from the pre-amp, but I've not had a go at that, it's on my to-do list.
  24. Latest version of my Nano board. Got this powered with the Truetone CS6 underneath. Finally ordered the Pedalnetics Helauxy Duo Mini Pro for the Stomp, wish I'd got that sooner, a great addition and space saver.
  25. Played the Monarch in Dunfermline last night with our new band, Temptation Waits. After the fallout/implosion of the last band, this one was put together in a fortnight so we could fulfil a support slot the previous band cancelled. We only had two rehearsals, but it went really well, thoroughly enjoyed it. Singer did amazing to pull it all together in such a short time and the new guitarist is great - not too loud, flexible, great tone and can actually play! We used the main acts backline and PA, they were fantastic help getting us all set up, couldn't have been better. And their sets were absolutely superb as well. Gear wise, I played my usual Squier 40th Anniversary through my HX Stomp.
