Most usually my part ends up being a slightly bastardised version of the original with personal fixes to cover the bits I can't seem to get right
That's what I'm ending up with at the moment. We're playing a few motown tunes and I just can't play well enough to replicate the lines! -
I've been thinking about this very topic recently as I've just joined a covers band for the first time and would be really interested on people's opinions on this.
Lets be honest, on the majority of songs, the average punter probably wouldn't notice a different bassline as long as it fits with the song. -
Never during a gig, and only a couple of times ever. I think G strings when I was trying to learn slap.
I always carry spare strings and usually a spare bass, just in case. -
Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip - Angles
my favourite spoken word/rapper at the moment -
love of the lowend!!!
+1 essential -
oo nice, any chance of some sound clips?
-
Nope, started out on clarinet, hence my penchant for a tight embouchure. but put it in the attic of my parent's house and haven't played in ages.
Picked up bass a few years back and have played acoustic guitar (badly) and keyboards (very badly) for a few months but now getting tempted to pick up an electric guitar for recording purposes.
Very much see myself as a bass player who tinkers with other instruments. -
er woah!
its a bit more metal than I can handle but sounding good. Did you record with your Streamer? -

agreed, they are awesome trousers. -
yum.

Used to play with a guitarist who used one of these, great noise.
-
Good luck with it.

very suspicious.
I can't think of any reasons (correct me if I'm wrong) why you wouldn't be happy to give out details on something you're selling unless you've got something to hide. -

Me too. That's the first sensible thing I've heard all day. -
wicked. Hope it goes well
-
cool, sounded like a fun gig with an appreciative audience.
I like it, very cool.
+1 very cool, feel like I should be listening in a late night bar with a fancy cocktail looking at pretty girls instead of in my living room. -
nice, like it a lot.
-
Just downloaded (thanks very much!) and listening now. Very impressive. Not my thing but obviously very nice. Going to recommend to a couple of people who I think will like it.
Some very cool tunes there lad. Couldnt get a proper listen in due to crappy laptop speakers but it it seemed fine from here. Just what ya want on a chilled out afternoon.
+1 nice tunes, also on crappy laptop speakers. -
Wicked, love it. Not sure if its my computer but the songs kept cutting out. probably a problem this end though..... I'll get my coat
No- I try and avoid getting sentimentally attached to inanimate objects. I like them for what they allow me to do but there's no deeper connection, any more than I have a particularly spiritual connection to my kettle or my laptop.
+1 they can sound, look and feel wonderful but they are objects. Sorry but love just doesn't come into it.
