1.
you can always get singing lessons but it's harder to fix a dodgy personality :)
+1 on this, finding nice people to play with is more than half the battle IMO. Having said that I quite like his voice, kinda suits the style of music?

anyway, really enjoyed the songs, good playing. Have never really spent much time listening to this kind of music but good stuff

  2. Right,

taking the advice of people on here and elsewhere I have altered a few bits on This isn't going well. I've also taken the liberty of adding a couple of other songs which are finished (ish).

All advice, comments, thoughts, musings, abuse etc are welcome

    Thanks, Rob

  3. I think I saw one of these last night at Sumo in Leicester last night. Unfortunately didn't catch the name of the band or get to speak to the bassist/guitarist after the gig (was a bit worse for wear).

Some songs he seemed to be playing bass lines on the bottom 2 strings and in other songs he played guitar solos on the top 4.

  4. Yep similar position here. Left a band back in the summer and haven't been able to find people to work with on anything original.

Got asked by a friend of a friend to start working on some soul/pop covers for a brithday party gig and have got a first jam/rehearsal tonight. Not really what I want to be playing but excited to be playing with a band again.

  5.
You can get some nice Cort's and Schecter's around that price range too.
+1 on Schecters and Corts.

I'm biased but I love Schecters. The ones I've played (both 4's and 5's) have been well made with a strong modern tone. There are plenty of woody finishes available too.

  6. Evening all,

Attached (hopefully) is an MP3 of my first attempt at writing a song alone then recording all the parts (apart from the lead guitar part). Recorded at home using an M-audio alpha and Cubase. Quite proud that I managed to record anything at all.

Let me know what you think, all helpful criticism welcome particularly on recording technique.

    Rob

  7. I like schecter basses (IMHO). I've played a few and have a Diamond series C-4 (came stock with EMZ HZ pickups) at the moment as one of my main basses. Fit and finish on all the Schecters I've played have been good. Comfortable to play and balance really well (longish top horn and off centre tail pin).

  8. Went to see a band called Kong (myspace.com/kongdom). Had a very distinctive look of all red with wierd doll/plastic surgery latex masks. pretty cool noise band. Not sure how this contributes to the discussion but they had changed into civvies once they came to the bar for a drink.
