Started at £200 with no bids yet. For some reason, like a lot of the Peaveys, these go for peanuts but they are extremely well made. Good strong low B. Very narrow string spacing, mind - I have one - 43mm at the nut and 16mm spacing at the bridge. 9lbs-ish. Clicky.

It's no wonder folk of our age are confused

I guess I am of a similar age - learnt both imperial and metric at different stage of school - so my brain is all over the place. I can visualise length and distance in either. Weight is strange - I can visualise in one or the other but not easily switch, I need to convert. Volume also. Temperature is really odd - I can effortlessly switch between F and C above freezing but below freezing can only think in C. Why are our road distances still measured in miles? and why are babies born in lbs? This doesn't help.

Convert TE combo to head and cab - sacrilege?
Paul S replied to Stub Mandrel's topic in Amps and Cabs
Seems like an eminently sensible thing to do. Put it back together when you decide to part company. -

The whole notion of banning large public gatherings is flawed in the first place. Mostly people would travel by public transport. The same public transport used by millions every day.

I think the original is a masterpiece of design, as it happens. Art deco rendering of a bird, designed in keeping with the intended art deco style of the bass.

That really makes me grin. Like a small boy standing next to his dad in the bathroom pretending to shave along with him. 😁

Enjoyed that! Really catchy song, nicely put together.

What's the best class D bass amp head you've used?
Paul S replied to thebassist's topic in Amps and Cabs
Of those I tried - which was lots - the ones I kept were the Tecamp Puma and Quilter BB800. But that lst isn't a class D is it? I get confused. Small and powerful anyway. And both, ahem, happen to be in the classifieds 🙃 now I am moving to a FRFR set up. -
The detail I like the most is the routing around the edge of the headstock like the Thunderbird has but on the completely different Grabber shape - which in turn transforms it from a shovel into something more delicate. Absolute genius.

Where is it positioned now? My new beau is a 2011 with the button at the back of the heel and, although no neck dive, the body does roll forward - be nice to correct that if possible. Had the briefest of noodles - it needs a proper set up, new strings etc - but it plays beautifully and sounds fantastic. Happy chap

So.... I had a quick look on eBay and there were a couple in my price range. One of them just 5 miles up the road. When asked the weight, he came back with 3.5kg. You can probably guess the rest 😂

Trace Elliot, The Bipolar Bear and the Clive Button Mod
Paul S replied to King Tut's topic in Repairs and Technical
Bipolar bears - what a great band name! -
I've taken the plunge and just ordered the RCF Art- 732, selling off all my old stuff. Here goes!

Bought a bridge from Mike in the simplest of transactions. Promptly posted, arrived beautifully wrapped. Thank you, sir.

Damnation! Yesterday morning I had no particular interest other than curiosity, today it's like an itch I can't scratch! Anyone got an 8lb Gibson Thunderbird they want to sell? 😍
-
Might be safer to wait until a bass bash - they won't be for sale then
-
None of this is helping my 'curiosity' in the least

Bought this new 4 years ago, my 'go-to' gig head but I'm switching to FRFR. Not much to say, really, other than this is a powerful little amp rated to 800W (whatever that means :)) but coasting through my old BF Supercompact and/or Two10 to keep pace with a loud rock band. Unusual controls that are very intuitive. Light as a feather and very small. Comes with the gig bag and odd little clicky mains lead. In very good nick. £320 collected from South Benfleet in Essex, postage to mainland UK would be approx £15 on top.
