  1. 'Bass player at the wrong gig lolz'... 😉
  2. Interesting, that would remove that small issue.
  3. Hi Kev Well, I've had no issues with either so they compare favourably that way. The Boss is certainly easier to use. I occasionally brush my right hand against the bug on surface mounted input jack basses and sometimes catch against it on edge mounted jacks but that is offset by the simplicity of using it and not having the transmitter unit attached to the strap. So far I don't regret changing to the Boss, anyway
  4. I think most rehearsal studios still have advertising boards so stick a 'band mates wanted' card in them?
  5. And replied. Current situation is that I've taken a holding deposit on this whilst collection arrangements are sorted out
  6. I think anything put out into the public domain is in play as far as 'critique' is concerned, tbh. Whether or not he deserves some of the harsh words or not is totally subjective but if he doesn't like it he shouldn't publish it/try to sell it.
  7. Well, according to my ears when I actually owned one it was plenty loud enough through a Supercompact. Like I say, ignore the stats - there have been plenty of discussion on here about how loud various amps are, regardless of the stats.
  8. I had one of the 500s. It was much louder than the statistics would have you believe. Especially as you can switch output between 8 and 4Ohm loads. Can't imagine any scenario where you'd need 1000W with one of these.
  9. I suspect the motive is increasing the search parameters rather than 'upbranding' - if you search for Fender this would pop up in the results. Then the punter would think 'Gosh, I was going to buy a Fender but this Chinese Squier came up and I think I'll buy that!' Although, tbf, I have previously owned both a '79 Fender Musicmaster and a 'Vista Series' Squier Musicmaster and preferred the latter.
  10. Eurosender will do UK>UK and fully insure instruments, I've sent a couple with no issues, plus some valuable plants. Now a 10% discount via the Basschat link Beaten to it.
  11. Yup. Winch all day and not flag.
  12. Another vote for Quilter bassblock and BF Supercompact.
  13. Yes please. Have a little project in the pipeline Pm incoming.
  14. On hold, pending the usual
  15. Sorry, John, it was a feeble attempt at humour. Yes, your memory is spot on. I am next driving along the A303 at the end of May next year and for the same reason. Probably a bit too far into the future. If it makes any difference to anyone I am driving up to Leeds on 25th October, down from Hull on 29th. Then to Worcester and back on 9th November.
  16. Where west? I go to Basildon sometimes.
  17. My back isn't getting any better so I am selling one of my Trace Elliot heads in favour of a more lightweight alternative. I believe this is the AH-300 with the GP12 SMX preamp. I bought it on here a few years ago and it has been my main gigging amp for that time. Monster of a head, as loud as anything you'll want and this amp is bursting with heft because of the proper Trace Elliot watts (etc etc). I have never had the master above 3 even when used on its own without pa support. All the usual superlatives, in fact, especially when it comes to how loud it is. Comes with nice long kettle lead and one of obbm's lorry towing jack to right angle speakon cab leads. Mounted into a Gator ABS rack case and, with the leads tucked neatly inside, weighs in at a perfectly reasonable 13.1kg. I found it made a decently balanced carry in with this in one hand and my Barefaced Supercompact in the other. Such a shame my back is no longer perfectly reasonable. Did I say it was loud? Price is £150 firm collected from Benfleet in Essex, could possibly meet up or deliver for fuel costs within a reasonable radius of Benfleet. But I am not prepared to courier this so please don't ask.
  18. I am selling my Tecamp Puma 300. It is one of the early german ones. Approximately the size and weight of a paperback novel so will fit into the pocket of a gig bag. A loud 300W into 4Ohm. 4 band eq, taste knob that alters the tone from modern to vintage or something. For me everything at 12 o'clock is just fine. Whisper quiet, no fan. In very good nick, everything works as it should. I bought this at the start of the year for home practice, rehearsals and the smallest gigs with a Barefaced One10 and it is absolutely great for this. I discovered that it is loud enough - just - for slightly bigger gigs with my loud blues band using my Barefaced Supercompact but there is not quite enough headroom for my liking. It would be fine with 2 cabs but I prefer using one cab mostly. So I have bought a Puma 500, which is flexible enough to cover all my requirements, meaning this is now surplus to requirements. This and the Quilter Bassblock are the only two mini-sized amps that I have been able to get on with. They have, er, heft. Love them both for different reasons and will most likely alternate them for gigging. Selling this with mains lead, speakon-speakon cab lead, box and packaging from the 500 but not with the extra gig bag. I am asking £250 £225 posted to mainland UK. You are welcome to call in and try out/collect from benfleet in Essex, in which case it would be £240 £215 Which I believe is something of a bargain Not looking for trades at the moment, thanks. And price is firm so please don't ask what my lowest is. I have taken one pic to prove it is here - it looks like a Tecamp Puma in good nick
  19. I bought a Tecamp Puma 500 from Florin in the most straightforward of transactions. He was out of the country but I picked it up from his housemate, who I paid. No issues. Good deal, thanks Florin.
  20. I've seen him a few times over the past few years - in Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings and on his own at the Apex Theatre in Bury St Edmunds. The man is a god. Speaking of the Apex, I saw the James Taylor Quartet there a couple of weeks back - superb.
  21. The new Gibson Les Paul Jnr DC is very light, not at home to confirm how light but from memory under 8lbs. 30" scale, sounds like a Gibson 😊
  22. I wouldn't say mine were mistakes, per se - more collateral damage from multiple 'epiphany moments' Like changing from roundwound strings to flats, back to rounds and now back to flats again. Going from 4 strings to 5 strings and now having both. Going from long scale to short scale to medium scale to long scale and now all of them. All incredibly good experience. And fun. But I really don't want to think in terms of money spent.
  23. Played a new place in Ipswich town centre, The Mannings, with my blues rock trio. First half was pretty quiet, second half folks were really behind us. Couple of guys came up to us at the end and said they heard us from the other end of town and came in to listen, said some nice things. As we were packing down a mahoosive fight broke out just outside the pub - people rolling around on the wet pavement, even on our cars! 4 police cars and 3 arrests later it was safe to stow our gear
  24. My blues rock trio are playing at The Mannings, Ipswich tonight. Kickoff around 9pm. Not played there before, looking forward to it! Footage from our last gig - Texas Flood at the Ipswich Maritime Festival
  25. No contest as far as I can see. Nevermind defined a new music genre and in its way changed the direction of contemporary music.
