  1. Stupid question #347. If I stick my pale honey coloured new-ish maple neck out into sunlight on sunny days, will it age and darken the finish much quicker than leaving it indoors? I suspect the answer will be 'yes' but not sure by how much. Ta.
  2. Could be that an item has limited appeal and so hangs around for a long while, not just inflated prices.
  3. I find this interesting as most of the shims I have seen/have fallen out of my basses when taking the necks off have been small things that go to one end of the pocket or the other, not completely covering the pocket like these. The net result of that is the neck gets tilted, not raised, and the shim doesn't have to be so thick. What is the idea behind the whole pocket shim?
  4. And, of course, if there is a problem in transit and it is damaged when - or if - it arrives it is not going to be straighforward to sort out.
  5. Can't help flesh out any detail but so glad it seems to have landed into the lap of someone who is going to do this fantastic bass some justice. Whilst I had hold of the baton I had it refretted and, I believe, improved for that. Still far too nice for me, though.
  6. This image is A4 so if you set your printer to print original size it should come out right. To check there is a line of cm markers.
  7. If it helps re fit or hole positions I can trace around it onto a piece of paper and post it off. Or maybe easier to scan it for a downloadable template. Might have a go at that tomorrow.
  8. Following a recommendation I read on here I shipped a bass to the Netherlands last week with Eurosender. Size limit was 175cm, insured for up to €2000 (they specifically mention musical instruments) it cost a whisker under €49, although there is also a lower value point too. 2 working days door to door. Very impressed.
  9. Just sold my Yamaha BX-5 to Ed is a smooth transaction. Good comms throughout, most pleasant experience all round.
  10. Gotta love Basschat - what a great thing to do!
  11. If one of my farts slide I believe I am in trouble.
  12. Patrick put out a call for a Gibson G3. I had just recently bought one and found that, fantastic as it was, it just wasn't particularly to my liking. So I got in touch and we sorted out the details. Patrick is happy because he now has another beloved G3. I am happy because I have a grand back in the bank He was a great bloke to deal with - I've never met him but feel as though I've known him for years! We also now know a reasonably priced international courier, so good all round. Enjoy the bass my friend
  13. Yes, does seem a bit of a major error. Still, not a problem sending it back. It is actually a gorgeous bass. It isn't the bright white shown in the pics but a warm opalescent finish that looks superb with the black neck and hardware/no pickguard look. Probably the only thing wrong with it is that because the pics are so contrasty they didn't show up a huge patch of wear on the back. But who looks at the back of their bass all day? Sounds nice, too. But not 30" scale and a bit heavy for me at 4.2kg. So, yes, going back.
  14. And it is here today - very speedy service from Bass direct. Lovely bass, too - my main issue is that it is 34" scale!
  15. This. I have ad block and have no idea what y'all talking about.
  16. All the comic replies aside, have to say this post puzzles me. I wondered if it was tongue in cheek but it appears not. So you are skint but bought a new bass, leaving you more skint? Did not having the bass mean you weren't able to gig and earn money? I'm not getting that impression. But in any case, for me honesty and trust are two of the most important things in a relationship and you clearly have broken both of these with an exceptionally selfish act. Anything that happens as a result of it is your own fault.
  17. I just uploaded the same old one. Like a pair of comfy slippers,
  18. Damnation. Someone did. Me. Simply couldn't resist.
  19. That's absolutely fab. Didn't know they did those in 30" scale. Someone buy it quickly!
  20. This is Basschat. No-one stays on topic for more than one page.
  21. The most impressive thing about that, aside from the leotards, is the roller skating. I've never been able to roller skate, just fall on my @rse straight away, and have been envious of anyone who can. He does it so effortlessly. Guilty pleasure - Cliff's Devil Woman. Always wanted to play it.
  22. 'Big Al' Saw them countless times between 1971 and 1976. I believe they lost the plot after that, with one or two highlights.
  23. The Arrow is slightly better - broader range of stuff and a longer list although no heavy rock to speak of.
