  1. I use the Hercules one that has dual fixings to either clamp into the side of a mic stand or onto the top of one if you aren't using a mic. Fits a range of sizes.
  2. Here's 3 I like. Possibly a bit mainstream compared to the other suggestions, but fit the brief IMO Steve Lukather's cover of Hendrix's 'Freedom' Lenny Kravitz's 'Always On The Run' And the rather similar 'Be Mine' by Kenny Wayne Shepherd
  3. There is no definitive answer as everyone likes something different. I like Dunlop nylon 1mm, some people hate them. Buy and try as many as you can until you find the one that feels right for you. Its cheaper than finding the right strings, anyway.
  4. Shouldn't you knit one pearl one?
  5. Lies! Damned lies! OK, it's a fair cop 😊🔗
  6. And I sold Andy a case to put it in. All the above applies 😊
  7. Would it be imprudent of me to mention the Fender decal?
  8. ^^ That's where my money would go. Right there.^^
  9. The soft spot is actually more like quicksand Difficult to disagree. The only thing I would add is you won't find a very light Yamaha BB, which are always going to be around 9lbs +/- but you will find a light precision - sometimes 8lbs or thereabouts. I have tried a few from a BB414 to a BB5000 and, much as I like them, they are just that little bit too heavy for me across the board. MIJ Precision would be my choice for a lighter weight P bass.
  10. I'm sure that's what he xeant.
  11. You want bling, you should have a think about the acrylic mirror pickguard I have for sale I bought the Axesrus BWB one to replace this. It says made in japan on the back. Was an OK fit - I had to shave a weeny bit from the pocket and two screw holes didn't quite align.
  12. I find I have no further use for the hard case in which my cute little Squier VM Mustang arrived. I believe it is one of these - a guitar case but large enough for a shortscale bass. At least, a perfect fit for a Mustang. Length inside is 107cm. It has a few minor scuffs but, really, is in great nick. Still has the key. Looks like this - stock pic. If you really insist I can take some pics of this one but it won't prove anything other than I actually own it Seem to cost between £69-110 online. I am asking £30 collected, postage would be extra. Could meet or deliver within reason for fuel. Ta
  13. Common sense? Anyone got a link to where I could find some?
  14. 5 posts in and he comes out slugging! I fear your time on this bass forum will be short lived unless you learn some manners, matey. For one thing, I have read and re-read the OP and can't see the word 'please' anywhere. Maybe I was dragged up differently.
  15. Maybe I could take the neck on holiday with me! I'm guessing it is poly - the bass is a Squier VM Mustang. Damned fine little fella it is too.
  16. I am sure if you explained to your line manager making a 2 minute phone call wouldn't result in you getting handed notice. I bought a short scale bass from there, when it arrived it was in fact a mistakenly described long scale. One phone call sorted the issue inside a minute.
  17. I see. Might add some seasoning and BBQ sauce
  18. Thanks. I hadn't considered the effect of the temp. changes. Probably not worth taking a risk.
  19. Not doing my GAS for these much good!
  20. Stupid question #347. If I stick my pale honey coloured new-ish maple neck out into sunlight on sunny days, will it age and darken the finish much quicker than leaving it indoors? I suspect the answer will be 'yes' but not sure by how much. Ta.
  21. Could be that an item has limited appeal and so hangs around for a long while, not just inflated prices.
  22. I find this interesting as most of the shims I have seen/have fallen out of my basses when taking the necks off have been small things that go to one end of the pocket or the other, not completely covering the pocket like these. The net result of that is the neck gets tilted, not raised, and the shim doesn't have to be so thick. What is the idea behind the whole pocket shim?
  23. And, of course, if there is a problem in transit and it is damaged when - or if - it arrives it is not going to be straighforward to sort out.
  24. Can't help flesh out any detail but so glad it seems to have landed into the lap of someone who is going to do this fantastic bass some justice. Whilst I had hold of the baton I had it refretted and, I believe, improved for that. Still far too nice for me, though.
  25. This image is A4 so if you set your printer to print original size it should come out right. To check there is a line of cm markers.
