  1. Danelectro made a cool retro styled single cut 30" scale bass in a vintage aqua colour. Not sure you can still get it new although you can get black ones.
  2. We have a winner! Well that wasn't as hard as i thought. I'd never have got it had I not known.
  3. Not getting that resemblance This pic was from the late 60s, guy would have been in his late teens.
  4. I was looking for early recordings of the fellow out of curiosity and was rather surprised at how he has morphed over the years.
  5. I was recently in the market for a micro head and looked at all the same teeny things. Then a Tecamp Puma was brought to my attention secondhand and there really is no contest - proper useable amp. Worth looking out for if you can hold on until one pops up.
  6. Last week at the Shepherds Bush Empire, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes. Not exactly my cup of tea but Mrs S has been a fan for 40 years. It ended up being one of the best gigs I've seen for ages - a high octane performance from the 70 yr old Southside and his band.
  7. I've tried most of the aftermarket bridges at some point or other on my Fender/Squier basses - Badass, Gotoh, Schaller 3D, Hisphot, Babicz. To my knackered old ears none made any difference in the sustain or tone and certainly any miniscule effect they may have is going to be lost within the context of a band. But as DD says they look better and i found them more comfortable when resting my palm on them, which I do sometimes when playing with a pick or thumb. They are generally better engineered and some of them also allow for greater and easier adjustment of the strings. But, fundamentally, they do exactly the same job.
  8. The tempo thing is quite a sensitive topic for many of the drummers I've played with as they sometimes feel it is a personal criticism. A click track via IEMs or strobe on a mobile phone seems to be a reasonable solution, once the correct speed has been agreed by the band. Getting to that agreement can be a bit tricky sometimes, though!
  9. Sounds a bit drastic Another vote for a Trace Elliot combo if there's nowt wrong with your back. Even the 150W is too loud for most gigs.
  10. I had a Katana bass for a while. Lovely thing it was, too.
  11. Just to clarify, when I say 'collection only' it means 'buyer comes along to collect' not 'I have to wait in all day for a courier to collect'. I'll also meet halfway or delivery for fuel costs.
  12. Sold my Uke bass to John in the most straightforward of transactions. A pleasure doing business.
  13. Luvverly, not heard that before. Never mind Led Zep, that could be a cut and paste for Rival Sons, Greta Van Hire et al.
  14. I absolutely love this one - great pulsing bass, lyrics still poignant, fab ott drums towards the end Rattled my bong, that's for sure
  15. Hard to believe this hasn't sold - a pretty rare, proper mid '90s MIJ Fender. Unusual styling, exceptionally lightweight 5 string. Industrial grade flightcase included. All for the price of a Squier?
  16. Thanks Warren. Call me shallow and superficial, I would hold out for black/black/maple. Believe it or not I am currently selling anything that isn't. Might get confusing eventually....
  17. Worth a little more than that now. Amazed you have the paperwork - or at least pics of it.
  18. I always felt that Wishbone Ash 'Live Dates' was a totally brilliant album but all the studio stuff sounds thin and lifeless. IMO etc etc.
  19. Bought some leads from Lozz - great price, promptly dispatched, beautifully packaged - great guy yo deal with
  20. Yes, a new build is always an option I think the black/tort/maple are the new MIM ones that are P/J, which I don't particularly like. It is the tone from that odd little split coil that appeals as well as the look. I had one of the Squiers a couple of years back and it was surprisingly good - didn't sound much different to a MIJ Mustang I tried. Shouldn't have sold it, really. Could put that on my headstone!
