1. Still here! Can't understand why, really. 6 months use, excellent nick, good price....
2. And again - perfect back up bass!
3. Victor bought my fretless Precision. He and I had a great transaction, however the courier cocked up majorly and it came back to me! Still, all is well that ends well. Victor is a great person to deal with. Good comms, friendly guy. Enjoy the bass!
4. Alan - if you want to have a look at mine or a noodle around on it to see if it is a good fit you are welcome to pop down the A12/A130 if you have a spare half day sometime.
5. I have one, short on power it ain't. And Mr Syncro is a gentleman to deal with, too, if I may say so.
6. Mine is 43mm. Just checked, given that I got the last measurement wrong Most likely Stingray based 5s have, but this is a Sterling. Smaller, lighter bodies, narrower necks etc. It is the reason I got it.
7. I have double booked myself so, as much as I'd like to see this double bill of guitar heroes, I have to sell them. Govt. Mule and Kenny Wayne Shepard on Saturday 28th October at the Indigo2. Kings Row seats A19/20, so slap bang in the middle of the front row of the balcony. There are no better seats! Part of the Bluesfest https://www.bluesfes...ickets/saturday The pair cost me £112.70 with the fees etc - I am selling as a pair for £100, so a saving of around 11% compared to buying them now (of course you couldn't get such a good seat now ). 'Print at Home' so I will just forward the email. Ta!
8. You could do worse than making something like this, Alan - I got Andyjr1515 to add an Aguilar P pickup to this, already rather sweet, Sterling 5. I rarely use the MM pickup or even the blend, just use the P pup. Edit - Andy did his customary build thread on this here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/294193-paul-ss-sterling-5/page__p__3250832__hl__sterling__fromsearch__1#entry3250832
9.
I thought all EBMM 5ers were 17.5 mm.
Just measured mine - you are right. Should have gone to Specsavers...
10. Sterling 5 would do it. Has a narrow neck but 18mm spacing at the bridge.
11.
How about a secondhand EBMM Stingray 5? That'll be well within your budget for a standard model and you won't need to change the electronics.
If a Yamaha BB425 is too heavy a Stingray 5 is going to be even heavier. A Sterling 5 wouldn't be, though - much lighter. I have one that is considerably under 9lbs.
12. I have a Yamaha BB425 for sale in the classified... 18mm spacing at the bridge.... http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1 6 months play from new in very good nick.
13.
I'm a big Schaller 3D fan - versatile, compact & beautifully engineered. Adjusting string spacing is incredibly straightforward. Downside is that you need to drill new holes for it on a Fender-type bass.
^^This^^. I used to fit Hipshot A until I fitted one of these and I think these have the edge. Easy lateral adjustment, not so bulky.
14. SKB cases are more fitted inside and offer a similar degree of protection to Hiscox.
15. Congratulatons to you both. Will you be keeping your name or will you become bluejack? Or perhaps bluejay-jack?
16. Not a festival but an all day thing at the Ally Pally. 5th August 1973 (just looked it up!). Uriah Heep, Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Manfred Mann, Gary Moore Band, Heavy Metal Kids, Fumble. Missed the last train home and slept outside Fenchurch St station, which was quite an adventure for the 16yr old naive me.
17. Price was reasonable?!! Understatement of the year. Lucky man. I saw one in action and fell in love - sounded and looked amazing.
18. If you ever hear him play fretless on New York Minute, originally played by Pino on the recording, he absolutely masters it.
19. Wonky bit of Spanish, as far as I can see? Anyone hablas espanol better than me?
20.
Or if you don't mind a slight deviation from the Fender norm - a Yamaha BB424.
Of course! I think we have a winner.....
21. To the top! IMO the best VFM 5er out there.
22. Fender Precision Lyte might do it. Uber-slim neck, light as a feather, P/J configuration. I found mine had a particularly lovely P/J blend. You may well find one for your budget, too - for some unknown reason they change hands for way under their worth.
23.
Only Japanese Squiers were Silver Series. They have Silvers Series written on the headstock. This one doesn't.
Yes, a common misunderstanding - a silver Squier logo doesn't mean silver series. As Señor Jones says, the words 'Silver Series' at the end of the headstock gives the game away!
24. After that dismal performance against Pakistan I guess the market is flooded with secondhand bats... Going away, back on 23rd type bump, btw.
