1. It is my pleasure to start a feedback thread for Mike - aka biggyp. he bought an amp from me in the easiest of transactions. Immediate payment, great comms throughout, a pleasure doing business.
2. On hold pending payment.
3. Sorry, leroybass, you were pipped to the post. On hold pending payment!
4. Peavey Foundation 5 string bass in glossy black with maple neck. USA made, no idea when. Serial number is 07834971 if you feel like some detective work. Very light traces of wear - surface scratches and buckle rash but bascially in very good nick. Someone had fitted a thumb rest at some point leaving holes remaining. Passive, 2 pickups, very 'Jazzy'. Weighs 4.4kg, width at the nut is a superslim 42mm (yes, a 5 string) and string spacing at bridge is 16mm. Must be a contender for the slimmest 5 string neck? Good strong B string. If you haven't read that these USA built Peaveys are incredible value for money then you must have arrived from another planet. I bought this extremely cheaply so am passing that on - selling for £180 firm collected from Benfleet in Bssex. Courier to mainland UK would be £25 extra - no case or gig bag but lots of packaging. Could possibly meet half way. Selling because it doesn't have a Precision sound and have now bought a Yamaha BB425, which has. 5. Danelectro Longhorn bass in black - 'original' style re-issue with stacked knobs for each pickup and the strange not-very-adjustable bridge. I believe the is was one of the Korean ones but no firm idea of the history or how old it is. Uniquely shaped iconic bass, instantly recognisable. Bags of character and very eye catching. Weighs almost nothing. Sounds immense. Surprisingly wide range of tones from the two lipstick pickups as you can blend each with the volume and tone knobs to your hearts content. Short scale, 38mm at the nut. Bridge adjustment and intonation are at best rudimentary but it seems ok to me! This is in pretty good nick with no major dings or scrapes. Surface scratches form use and some buckle rash, both would most likely polish out. Will come with a brand new Thomann ABS hard shell guitar case, bought specifically for it but not actually left the house since, so I feel confident sending something that is made basically out of hardboard via courier. Price is firm £180 including the case plus cost of courier - probably £25. Alternatively you are welcome to collect from Benfleet in Essex or perhaps meet half way. Not prepared to ship outside of mainland UK.
6. Bought and fitted once, light wear, all there, good nick. This is the chrome finish for 3/8" holes in headstock, so the smaller size. £45 posted £40 collected from Benfleet in Essex
7. I bought these from the US of A a couple of years back, fitted them to a bass, removed them when I I sold it and they have been sitting here ever since. So fitted once, light wear, good nick, everything is there, original packaging etc. These are for the wider 1/2" spindle Fender type headstocks. £55 posted, £50 collected from Benfleet in Essex Edit - extra picture taken of the only mark I can see. Small silver dot to the right.
8. Amp techs that are 'approved Trace Elliot' - whatever that means! - in Southend. They have always done a splendid job on mine. http://www.electronicmusicservices.co.uk/
9. I have the RAH 300-12 SMX. Or, more accurately, I have 2 in case one needs to go into hospital. One is rackmounted into an ABS case and weighs in at 12kg, the other out of any box and slightly lighter. For me, and the tone I am looking for, it hits the spot. Pre-shape 1 and then dial in the blend with a flat eq to slightly cut the bass if the room requires it. Not found anything else that does the same thing so far so I stick with this. My nod to new stuff is that I think it actually sounds better with a Barefaced Supercompact than with the TE cabs I had. And even better still with two Barefaced Supercompacts...
10. Norman Watt Roy springs to mind.
11.
Still available mate?
Yes, still available!
12. I always have two - the one I play and a spare, which is either a B2V or a B2B depending upon whether I am using a 4 or 5 string. Either way it is small - I usually prop it up behind or to the side of the cab. Guitarists in my regular band each take 2 guitars so they have a spare. So 6 guitars 'on stage', not that we play places with a stage. In the new Bon Jovi tribute the guitarist takes 3 - he uses a Line 6 Variax to emulate a 12 string acoustic at the start of 'Dead or Alive' on which he can then just change patches for the rest of the song. Then a couple of others as he prefers the tone and they way they play.
13. I've broken and string and had an amp fail on me, so I always take a spare bass and amp as back up. Better them sitting within reach than at home!
14. On hold for a week or so....
15. Might as well! Then I can buy it back again a few months from now.
16. They are definitely not the same, but I don't know what the difference is.
17. This amp has been bought and sold on Basschat several times. Mainly by me! And here it is again. Promethean or Red Sub clone. 500W into 4ohm, lots of knobs and buttons all of which do useful things. I bought it as back-up and have now trumped it for something better. Everything works and it will include a kettle lead. £100 posted.
18. I got this earlier in the year but it isn't my thing. Used it for a couple of rehearsals and one gig. Excellent condition, everything works. It now has a Roqsolid cover in black. Anything you might want to know about its specs can be found here : http://www.markbass....etail.php?id=41 There is a lot been said about these on the forum, a lot of love for them. Just not by me £450 collected from SS7 in SE Essex. Can meet half way or possibly deliver if not too far but I'd rather not post at this stage. Ta! 19. The 'Fender Original' that they list has sometimes been called the '62 Re-issue' model. They are the vintage tone P pups I have always bought. BAX have them at £61 https://www.bax-shop.co.uk/bass-pickups/fender-precision-bass-original-vintage-design-pickups
20. Yes, I had one of those. Lovely thing. Also the B2 series, which are similar to these but of course headless and bodiless. I currently have a B2V and a B2B, previously had a couple of B2As. I'd say the B2B is the best of the bunch - passive with P/J pickups.
21. Dunc - I had similar thoughts to you. I've tried several of the 'lightweight but loud combos' and not liked any of them particularly. Markbass, Fender Rumble etc. Either not light enough, not loud enough or I don't like the tone. I have pretty much abandoned the idea of getting one, despite how convenient it would be. I read the thread about these new Quilter Bass Block 800 heads and decided to take the plunge. Early days but I am very much taken with it. Really tiny - small enough to carry along with something else and not notice it. Under 2kg and extremely small. Great tone, very loud and seem to match nicely with Barefaced cabs - at least the two I have tried. It means my rehearsal carry is now more than 10kg lighter and more streamlined, which was my thwarted aim when looking for a combo. I can use the BF 110 with my quieter band, Supercompact with the rock band. Small gigs, too I would imagine, if I can bear to divorce myself from my beloved Trace Elliot head. I used it at last night's gig with my rock band at pub gig volume, intending to just try it but ended up with it all night.
22. I used this last night at pub gig volume. Gain set at 8 o'clock to give a bit of break up. I was into the PA so had master set at around halfway and that was plenty loud into into the Supercompact. Didn't get enough time before we kicked off to dial in the 'exact' sound I wanted but got close enough in just a couple of mins fiddling - the eq is simple but effective. Overall a very nice bit of kit and I think perfect for what I need.
23. It is my pleasure to start off a feedback thread for Duppy03 - aka Matt - to whom I sold a bass. Nice friendly guy, good comms, a pleasure doing business.
