Nor had I until I saw the one I bought for sale. It is voiced differently to the EMG ones I've had before - more like a Fender, unsurprisingly - also passive and bolt-on neck. Pic nicked off t'net

I thought that as soon as posted it I mention it again, just because I am a little in love with it, but my latest B2B is a P/J and very nice too.

A 'B bass'. Jack with a head, B2A with a body and head. All essentially the same I think. I had one for a while and it was very nice, usually to be had for very little money, too.

A brief update. I have been asked a couple of times for quotes to send this outside of the UK. Today I looked into it fairly thoroughly and, as far as i can tell, the small print of *all* the main couriers excludes full cover for musical instruments. One has limited cover and only if sent in a hard case. So UK only - preferably meet half-way or I deliver it - unless someone can a/ point me in the direction of a courier who will insure it or b/ you arrange your own courier and take the risk yourself.

Glad to see some love for these. I'm still waiting patiently

Trying to look a little more cheerful on stage :-/

Cowboy hat doesn't make you look any more cheerful, ime -
^^^ Quite a few times - I'm the bassist!!
Pete and I did a little business last year and he kindly arranged a couple of complementary tickets for the Southend gig. REALLY enjoyed the show and have bought tickets for this year - can heartily recommend it. I'll wave at you, Pete, from the balcony!

I like them a lot - I'm on my 4th . I posted about the headless/body-less genre here and got some interesting answers. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/277945-headless-body-less-basses/page__p__3002942__hl__headless__fromsearch__1#entry3002942 They are so practical to take as a back up as they take up no space in the car or on stage - just stand solidly on the floor against the wall/cab/whatever. But also very handy for those of us who gig in very tight spaces - you don't end up crashing the headstock against cymbals. I found the same as others have mentioned - the way it hangs puts the bass further to the left, but the lack of headstock makes it still register ok with my brain that there is a bass where there is usually a bass - resulting in a tendency to play a couple of frets too high. But you soon adjust - I wear the strap in the middle of my chest, not to the left - and after a while can swap between basses without thinking. As for the size thing - so what? I am not small but don't feel self-conscious wearing one. Have to say (again) that my latest B2B is a revelation after having had three B2As. With a bolt on neck and P/J pickups, the tone is much closer to my favoured Precision tone, although I always found there was a sweet spot on the B2A that approximated to one. Plus this one doesn't have the drop D lever, which makes palm muting much easier. As you say, marmite basses. I can't see these ever being collectible, though. BTW - I found that a Plano SE Rimfire gun case fits pretty much perfectly as a hard case. £35 on eBay.

I always look as though someone has just plugged me into the mains when I start playing. My head jerks about, I pull faces, I move randomly. I've tried to control it and try to move in some kind of way that looks 'cool' but soon revert - I can't help it - so now just embrace it and let it happen. It might be better than standing still and gazing at the fretboard or not - but I can't do much about it -
What about this Peavey Max? http://www.thomann.de/gb/peavey_max_115_3.htm Or Ibanez Promethean http://www.thomann.de/gb/ibanez_p3115_promethean_combo.htm?ref=prod_rel_374205_0

A musical weekend - went to two gigs over the weekend, both at the O2 Brooklyn Bowl which is rapidly becoming one of my favourite venues. Plus one of my bands gigged on Saturday, sandwiched between. On Friday saw the Von Hertzen Brothers. Finnish rock band, very melodic, very good performance. 3 part vocal harmonies were excellent. last night saw New Master Sounds. Old school Jazz funk. Amazing performance, best gig I have been to so far this year. They started at 7:30, which I think caught a lot of people wrong footed, finished at 10:30 with a 25 minute break at some point. Bass player, Pete Shand, sounded lush playing a Precision through an Ampeg rig and was incredibly good.
This reminds me, I actually played this song live with them on tv Luckily it's lost forever in the anals of satellite tv
Is that like the bowels of satellite TV?

I use 1mm Dunlops. Can't get on with thinner ones or thicker ones. I have tried felt and leather picks to try and emulate finger style but not found them comfortable or effective. In the end it was easier to practice finger style - I'm getting better at it The only 'odd' pick I use now is a rubber one when trying to play on my rubber stringed U bass. In many ways I prefer that over using my fingers on those strings.

hah! Must have read this thread after his initial listing!

I can't see this fetching much, listing starts at £50, collection only from the edge of known civilisation. Well, Hornsea on the NE coast anyway These are lovely basses, beautifully made - I had one several years ago and still miss it but, at well over 10 lbs, it was far too heavy for my poor old back. I think they sport Dimarzio pups? Sounds and plays like a Precision but looks entirely different. My 'grab it if the house caught fire' bass would be the 32" scale mid 80s MIJ Squier Precision in vintage white that has changed hands on this forum a few times over the years but now home to roost. Weighs under 8lbs, as a slim neck that is a joy to play and, after mods carried out by a previous owner of a Fender Original pickup and a quality wiring loom, has the exact sound of a Precision bass that I carry in my head - better than any other I have played or owned. Close second is a JV Squier Precision I bought fairly recently. A '57 re-issue in black, now sporting a bwb pickguard and a maple neck with a slight but attractive figuring in the grain that has aged to that gorgeous caramel colour. Weighs in at just over 8lbs. Slightly different voice to the white one and the tone pot allows for a slightly more aggressive edge when fully open. Shallow person that I am, the colour way is my absolute favourite so it scores extra points for that too. Third in line is my new kid on the block - a 1973 Yamaha SB-15, an apparently rare double cutaway bass that looks like a bass version of the guitars Santana used to use. Still smiling about that, got it for a song and it is amazing. Needed some fettling - a new nut and bridge - but now, just Wow. Different voice to a Fender yet a tone full of individuality and character that I really love. So 2 Squiers and a £250 eBay job. Am I easily pleased?

Man of the World, Fleetwood Mac, can bring a tear to my eye if I'm in that kind of mood. Such a sad song.

I tend to opt for the front of the balcony at venues these days if there is one. Someone trod on my foot when passing by to the lavs but that was about the extent of the injury. I suppose it could always collapse.
