Making me regret my decision not to go, I must say. Hopefully he will come back - seems quite a few of them do after appearing on C2C. Your project sounds like a good one - do you need a bass player?

I've seen Limehouse Lizzy a couple of times. They are very good - certainly one of the better tribute bands I have seen. The front man doesn't try to be Phil but is in his own right very charismatic - and they can pretty much guarantee to sell out a venue. The first couple of times I tried to see them by getting in at the door and I wasn't able to. I guess that is why there is the exclusion zone.

Why formerly with Shakatak - has he left? I've seen them half a dozen times in the last few years - a totally fabulous band.

He would have been the only one I fancied seeing in the whole weekend's line up. Decided to pass this year after splashing put on a VIP box for both nights last year - plus Jason Aldean would have been a hard act to follow.

I wouldn't have been good enough for Ambient's woodworking class. That looks like a top job. And a rather nice Mahonia behind you - makes a change to see one given the right amount of space. I bet that smelt wonderful a few weeks ago!

Why Did You Do It, Stretch.

I did a post recently asking for an overview of headless, bodyless basses and had some very interesting replies. It is passive with P/J pickps and a bolt on neck. The tone is different to a B2A played passively, no surprise as the pickups are different, and I much prefer it. But I have had some full-bodied basses that weigh no more than the headless/bodyless ones. (Shameless plug alert) my stealth MIJ 32" scale Fender Jazz Bass Special - currently for sale - weighs just 7.5lbs.

Hate is a strong word. I don't hate anything much to do with basses. But I wouldn't buy a bass that had any of the following: More than 4 strings. Tort pickguards Single cut - especially those that end up looking like a cartoon whale trying to eat a ladder. Grain woods - what's wrong with black or white? Tort pickguards Green basses Red basses Tort pickguards Fanned frets Most sunburst finishes Tort pickguards. I think that's it. Oh, yes, tort pickguards.

I recently bought a black/white/maple '57 RI JV Squier Precision, similar age. Everything about this looks exactly the same as mine - except the condition! If I were in your place I would raise my interest level considerably. Mine is an absolute peach. Then again feel free to take everything I say about Japanese Squiers with a pinch of salt as I got it royally wrong a few days ago!
