I have a secondhand Line 6 G50 that I bought on here ages ago. Not being that mobile on stage (having the space would be a luxury for most of my gigs ) I stick the transmitter in my back pocket with the clip holding it in place. Seems to do the job nicely.

I am a born again bassist I played guitar from mid-teens until I left university, so through most the 70s, which was followed by a musical void until my mid 40s 'mid life crisis' came along. By that time I had started to listen to and appreciate music in a different way and I thought it would be nice to pick up playing music again, but this time with bass. I bought myself a Peavey starter kit - played every day for a week, then every week for a month, then it sat in the corner gathering dust. Couple of years later I decided to go for it again, practiced like mad, jammed with some other guys in the same position, then joined another lot who were better than me. Had my first paying gig at 50, that was 8 years ago. Feels like a small piece of me that was missing all those years is back in place. I would say that playing bass and being in bands has changed my outlook on music completely. Rarely do I sit down and listen to recorded music these days, certainly not with the intensity that I used to. My enjoyment comes from the process of a bunch of people being on stage and making music together - whether it is me and one of my bands or watching other bands live. I get to hear enough recorded music to point me in the right direction, but to see it recreated live is what it is all about as far as I am concerned. Discounting local pub bands I went to 30 gigs this year

There is a quality bitsa 'Hot rod' in the classifieds here being sold by Shonks. I've seen and heard it and would rate it a bargain for £250.
GAS for the first time in a while. I find that I need a Squier Musicmaster Vista Series in sonic blue.
And now, courtesy of gareth, I have one. Exceeds my expectations, which were high, too.

Gareth very kindly answered my call in the 'wanted' section and cured my GAS for a Squier Musicmaster bass Vista Series. We arranged the detail, met up half way, had a brief chat before I rushed home to try it out. I am very momentarily putting the bass down to leave feedback before picking it up again - probably the nicest short scale bass I have ever played. Thank you so much, Gareth!!

Fender Japan make both short scale (JB62SS) and medium scale (JB62M) jazz basses that have scaled down bodies. Also a medium scale non-export Aerodyne Jazz bass with either P/J or, a bit rarer still, J/J pickups - both have smaller bodies. I have the medium scale JJ Aerodyne Jazz and it is very nice indeed. None are common over here but can be imported from Japan 'reasonably' cheaply.

I was recently in the market for a Fender original pickup - my favoured P bass tone and one I generally fit into my P basses. Usually pay £30-50 secondhand for one depending upon condition etc. I've sen them new in the UK for anything up to £100. Anyway, I found them offered for £55 posted at https://www.bax-shop.co.uk/ which to me seemed like an incredible deal. 48hr delivery, asks you which day you'd prefer, too. Usually if something seems too good to be true it generally is but mine arrived this morning and it is the real deal. I have no affiliation with them, just think they have done a great job. edit - and I got a free pen, too.

Great fingerstyle groove 'Mind On You' from their latest EP 'Sirens' recorded live. IMO back to the simple acid jazz of the early days. http://youtu.be/_sGuBUmymc4
but his finger playing is top draw, tight thoughtfull and catchy as hell and more to the point as a total package i dont know anyone who comes close to him,
Very much this. His finger playing in particular is some of the best I have seen. I have been going to Level 42 gigs since they started and when I saw them at IndigO2 earlier this year (recorded and now on DVD) I reckon his playing (and this incarnation of the band) is better than ever. Their last release, Sirens, had finger playing and even pick playing tracks outnumbering the slap. Plus these days he doesn't stand on the stage edge doing 15 minute solos, just plays for the music. He has a reputation of being a one trick pony but I suspect it is largely perpetuated by people who haven't seen him play live recently.
I think if I was to spend money I would look at the barefaced range, I haven't got a clue which one/s would give a similar power and sound to what I have now though!
Drop Alex a PM and ask, he is always happy to advise. I have used a TC Classic 450 and RH750 through BF Compact, Midget and now Supercompact. They all sound different and all exactly as Alex described when I asked him.

The best Precision bass for me is my mid 80s A series MIJ Squier medium scale precision (sorry Ted). Everything about it suits me better than any others I have tried - weight, neck width, neck radius, scale length, tone - the whole lot. I've had quite a number - USA, MIJ, still own an early JV Fender logo Squier - and they just haven't stacked up.

Just listed on eBay, collection only London with a few limited delivery options. http://www.ebay.co.u...AAAAOSwcBhWbd8- This is the 'pro' model with a pup selector switch and adjustable bridge. If I didn't already have one this would be mine by now - serious bargain! edit - he obviously cut and pasted the description from somewhere without looking at his actual model.

Finished a whisker under £243. Was the lucky bidder one of us?

Great gig last night at Rayleigh Mill. Second outing for my new classic rock covers band The Wayward Sons - we played a support slot for a soul band with whom we share drummer and keys. Slightly wavery start but once we warmed up the place was 'rocking'. I think we blew the soul band away, to be honest

Probably not the best but I am surprised no-one has posted it yet Is this long enough to qualify as an intro? http://youtu.be/qR0K0mmm6R4

This was my main amp for a while, shunted down the order to 'back up' once I got back into my favoured Trace Elliot again, and now surplus to requirements. TC Electronic RH 750. Amp itself is in good nick, faulty buttons have been replaced, everything works and no issues I am aware of. This is loud into 8ohms and very loud into 4ohm! For me the good things are the programmable presets, the very effective Tubetone and the onboard compressor - these are not gimmicks but good useable tools. At least i found them so. Plus of course the tuner, which seems accurate and clear. RC4 Footswitch operates the 3 presets, has the tuner display and a mute function, all very useful to have at your feet. This one has a scratch on the top, see pic, also one of the nuts holding preset button 3 in place is missing. Nevertheless it all works just fine. Obviously included is the connecting cable. Link to TC website for general guff and details http://www.tcelectronic.com/rh750/ The padded soft gig bag into which it all fits nicely is in good nick apart from a small area where seam is coming adrift near the zip - something these gig bags seem prone to do. Kettle lead included - whole lot was PAT tested last month, fwiw. Priced to sell at a very reasonable [s]£500[/s] boxing day reduction to £450 collected from SE Essex, SS7. Overnight fully insured courier would be £25 on top. bank transfer or 'no fee' PayPal are just fine. cash on collection even better Not looking to sell the footswitch separately.
