1. Sonic blue for me. I just acquired a bass in sonic blue and it is cool as anything.
2. Graham and Truckstop - muchas gracias! I see a few hours on headphones coming up over the holidays!
3. Mail order cakes for xmas - Yule log in post. Or has that been done?
4. That neck dive would take more than a wide strap to cure.
5. anyone remember this? http://youtu.be/sBmYkXVteaU
6. I was expecting a link to this listing: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Low-Rider-Shred-neck-Bass-guitar-practice-tool-/252224462584?hash=item3ab9bfdef8:g:ap8AAOSw~otWe~Wj Although I think less is less in this case.
7. I have to admit I have never really got a grip on all the various sub-genres of Heavy Metal music. Then again, I did kind of stop listening to it all after Black Sabbath. Could someone (or some people?) please list all the various types, describe what makes them distinct and - ideally - link to an example? Obrigado
8. Back to the OP, I am guessing that if you fitted a 34" scale neck to a 30" scale bass body, even if there was enough room to move the bridge backwards to make it intonate correctly it would presumably neck dive like crazy?
9.
I didn't know of her existence, actually - I merely Googled 'Loggins' and 'Bikini', hoping to see a picture of Kenny Loggins in a bikini. The fishing angle is just a bonus, obviously...
Kenny Loggins in a bikini. Of course.
10.
Actually this thread is making me go all misty-eyed...
I find it slightly discomforting that you knew of the existence of Ms Loggins And although educated at a 'boys only' school I've never heard of the euphemism 'tie one one' before, either.
11. A perceived issue with short scale basses is that the larger gentleman feels they look like toys. I wouldn't consider myself small but am quite comfortable using my Dano Longhorn or my new old Squier Musicmaster Vista.
12. I have never used a Sansamp so couldn't say. However - bumping for a possible trade - I'd take a telecaster guitar in PX with a varying amount cash my way, depending upon which telecaster it is.
13. So I'd heard. Mine was around 9.5lbs, not overly heavy but too heavy for me. Now the Shergold I had was light as a feather - 7.5lbs.... Anyway, no more pictures, please....
14.
Ooh, why not? Just out of interest.
A few things, really - always either a bit or a lot too heavy, neck is too wide, 34" scale length - I am enjoying 32" at the moment (ooh matron etc). And I seem to be leaning more and more to single pickup basses. But they look so damned pretty...
15. Sigh. That is gorgeous. I always feel a pull towards these. My first 'proper' bass was a Hayman 4040 and it was probably my first real love - but I know I don't get on with them.

17. I have a secondhand Line 6 G50 that I bought on here ages ago. Not being that mobile on stage (having the space would be a luxury for most of my gigs ) I stick the transmitter in my back pocket with the clip holding it in place. Seems to do the job nicely.
18. I am a born again bassist I played guitar from mid-teens until I left university, so through most the 70s, which was followed by a musical void until my mid 40s 'mid life crisis' came along. By that time I had started to listen to and appreciate music in a different way and I thought it would be nice to pick up playing music again, but this time with bass. I bought myself a Peavey starter kit - played every day for a week, then every week for a month, then it sat in the corner gathering dust. Couple of years later I decided to go for it again, practiced like mad, jammed with some other guys in the same position, then joined another lot who were better than me. Had my first paying gig at 50, that was 8 years ago. Feels like a small piece of me that was missing all those years is back in place. I would say that playing bass and being in bands has changed my outlook on music completely. Rarely do I sit down and listen to recorded music these days, certainly not with the intensity that I used to. My enjoyment comes from the process of a bunch of people being on stage and making music together - whether it is me and one of my bands or watching other bands live. I get to hear enough recorded music to point me in the right direction, but to see it recreated live is what it is all about as far as I am concerned. Discounting local pub bands I went to 30 gigs this year
19. An offering from German 70s jazz funk Randy Pie: http://youtu.be/pZ1uarIoGOI
20. There is a quality bitsa 'Hot rod' in the classifieds here being sold by Shonks. I've seen and heard it and would rate it a bargain for £250.
21.
GAS for the first time in a while. I find that I need a Squier Musicmaster Vista Series in sonic blue.
And now, courtesy of gareth, I have one. Exceeds my expectations, which were high, too.
22. Gareth very kindly answered my call in the 'wanted' section and cured my GAS for a Squier Musicmaster bass Vista Series. We arranged the detail, met up half way, had a brief chat before I rushed home to try it out. I am very momentarily putting the bass down to leave feedback before picking it up again - probably the nicest short scale bass I have ever played. Thank you so much, Gareth!!
