1. 16kgs - thanks Nik. I will pass at this weight, which is a shame as it is such a bargain! I suppose you need to weigh up (!) which you need more - this amp or £75.
2. Thanks for that folks, sounds like for once you can believe what you read on the internet! Mine should be arriving in a couple of days, just in time for my birthday!
3. Nik, can you give any kind of weight for the Peavey head? it is very tempting but I need to be able to lift it without risking a visit to the osteopath!
4. And, due to having bought 2 more basses in as many days (so much for rationalisation) this is back up for sale with a price drop to £350 posted or £325 collected.

7. The trouble is that having a 'bad back' is a kind of catchall term for a whole raft of issues with different root causes. Some of which are alleviated by wearing a lighter bass, some evidently not. But it is worth repeating that bass weight isn't an issue until it becomes an issue - and when it does you will know about it. I have a weak sacro-iliac joint - still a 'bad back' but unrelated directly to discs. For some years it was an acute problem popping up maybe twice a year but then winter 09/10 I damaged it clearing snow and it has become a permanent fixture. I have spent the last 5 years strengthening my core muscles at the gym and this has helped a lot. But I would say it is also completely unrelated to my body weight, as I have oscillated between 13 stone and 17 stone whilst afflicted. Currently just about 15st. Fat or thinner (though never slim... ) I still pay for using a bass over 9lbs the day after a gig or rehearsal so, for me, that is that. And I guess for those suffering with shoulder pain 'packing a bit of timber' is an irrelevance. As for lightweight basses themselves I don't see the link between tone and weight. I have a mid 80s 32" scale MIJ Squier Precision that has the best tone of any Precision I have ever picked up and it weighs 7.5lbs. Lucky me. You've just got to kiss a lot of frogs to find your prince.
8. For sale my Washburn AB10 semi-acoustic bass in glossy piano black. A few scuffs but generally in very good nick. Currently fitted with flats, I think LaBellas. Unplugged it is loud enough for home practice but needs to be amplified to play within a band context. Sounds nice, plays well - for the money it is actually pretty hard to beat. They certainly look the part - first time I took it out of the bag with my band they thought I'd been spending loads of money! Only selling because I have now been spending loads of money and have a posh one incoming They currently retail discounted down at around £319 - link to blurb here http://www.gear4musi...TxMEhoChlLw_wcB looking for a realistic £175, which includes a padded Stagg gig bag, collected from SS7. Fully insured overnight courier to UK mainland would be £20 extra Pics tomorrow
9. For sale my Westone Concord bass in scruffy black, black pickguard, and headstock (they did come with a black headstock, but this looks a bit DIY?) - no decals. Maple neck that on the back side is beautifully figured in tiger stripes - I wonder if these stripes continue under the black paint?. Passive, split P type pickup, high output, quite aggressive Precision tone. Roll off the tone a bit and it is rather dark and nice. Weighs just under 9lbs, 39mm at the nut. Loads of mojo, everything works. Serial no. stamped onto rear of headstock indicates it is an '84. If I were going to keep it i would play with the neck a bit more as the relief is quite marked - but the truss rod adjustment is at the body end and a bit fiddly as i don't have the correct tool for this. However it is playable - even giggable - as it is. Good back up as it is or make a good cheap pimp project. Link to the thread when I bought it (hope you don't mind Benedict!) and nothing much has changed except I now have a string Tree for ADG. http://basschat.co.u...99#entry2767899 Priced to sell at just £80 collected from SS7, £95 posted to mainland UK. New Pics tomorrow.
10. Just bought one of these on eBay by way of upgrading my semi-acoustic bass. I've never seen or played one before but it seems to tick a lot of boxes. 6.5lbs? It will be a while before I get it - meanwhile I wondered if anyone has had one and what I can expect? Pic nicked of t'net - mine is black but fretted, not fretless.
11. Ta. Light by Trace Elliot combo standards but still a bit too heavy for me, I think.
12. Bump for a price drop to £300 collected or £325 posted! I'd consider a Trace Elliot head of some sort, 250W+, as PX, as well as the above swaps
13. I was in a short-lived female/male fronted band. Of the simpler bass tracks, we did, as already suggested, 'Walking on Sunshine', which I loathed yet it unfailingly went down a storm. Also Kim Wilde's 'Kids I America', Joan Jett's 'I love Rock n roll', Pat Benatar's 'Hit Me With Your Best Shot'. Also simple but very bass dominant in the track was 'Black Velvet' which I enjoyed playing.
14. Sold a bass to Paul. Top man. Good comms, friendly guy, I'd have no hesitation dealing with him again.
15. Probably best to just count your blessings if the weight of a bass isn't important, because once it matters everything else in Life becomes a lot less straightforward, too. One very silly example is that I am no longer able to cut my own toenails without risking my back going so have to have a chiropodist round every 6 weeks. There are 'slip-on shoes' days when tying laces is completely off the agenda. Et cetera ad nauseam
16. If it were mine I'd be sending a PM to Andyjr1515 of this parish who excels at this type of thing.
17. They sentenced me to 20 years of boredom for trying to change the system from within 'First we take Manhattan' Leonard Cohen.
