1. This thread seems rather too close to trolling for comfort. OP says he doesn't see the point of high end gear for weekend warriors, weekend warrior says he gets it because he likes it, OP repeats that he doesn't see the point. Copy and paste to all respondents. Why does it matter, other than to try and provoke a response?
2. If it were a steel grill it would be on its way to me by now. I have one - best cab I have had by a country mile. I'd like another but they have to match.
3. Just seen this thread, Rich - you don't hang about! Nice job. Had you kept with black I may have bought it back!
Marinus bought my Fender Jazz Bass Special in a totally smooth and easy transaction. Great comms, instant payment, nice friendly guy to deal with. I wouldn't hesitate dealing with him again.
And I didn't hesitate! Marinus bought my Shergold Marathon in the easiest of deals. Sorted out his own courier, great comms, instant payment etc etc. Look forward to the next time!
5.
Short scale = bad sound
Even this one? 6. Even with import charges I reckon this would be a good buy. Not for me as I can't stand red basses. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1985-FENDER-JAPAN-JAZZ-BASS-PJ-535-TORINO-RED-E-SERIES-FUJIGEN-MEDIUM-SCALE-32-/271972431909?hash=item3f52d1f825
7. Warren - this makes me wonder why the regular bass player is unavailable. Is it possible you are considering sacrificing more than perhaps he is in order to make it? But the bottom line is only you know how important it is going to be for you to do it - what, if any, repercussions there are going to be if you do or don't say yes. From an outside perspective my thoughts are that if, by agreeing to dep, you are likely to get a lot more paid work with the band then you could see it as an investment. If not then I personally feel it is taking advantage of your good nature.
8. Repeat of my last post from 2 years ago - except this time it was a Hohner B2ADB! Thanks Ian.

Sold my fretless Westone Thunder 1A to Nick in the easiest of transactions - top chap. Good comms, immediate payment, friendly fellow.
10.
Very true - but I sooo badly want a Riverhead Unicorn
Gonna have to fight you over that when one appears, Jon... Funnily enough I was sitting on a project Quantum until selling it just a few days ago. Must be like buses.
11. Great idea. Hohner B bass has a set neck...
12.
Not 'based on'. The owners of said famous posteriors would make themselves available on a 'per gig' basis, their remuneration being based on their relative fame and the accomodative nature of their buttocks. Well, you can pay these people to come and open a supermarket or turn on the Christmas lights. Why on earth wouldn't they want to hire out their butt-cleft as a neck rest?
Bilbo could get Vanessa Feltz in to park his 7 string bass....
13. Due to the arrival and immediate promotion of my Trace Elliot head to 'best and favourite' this has been shunted down to order from 'back up' to 'surplus'. Mark Bass Little Mark Tube 800. I've not had it that long but liked it immediately. It has some scuffs and scratches but works perfectly. And loudly. Light as a feather. It has a strange arrangement of two inputs that I have never got my head around - both seem to do exactly the same thing - I am sure someone can enlighten us! Tube or solid state gain with a knob to blend between them - max over to tube gives a warmer more brittle tone but it is subtle. Pretty straight forward 4 band eq plus two knobs VLE and VPF that colour the sound interestingly. Took me about 30 mins of juggling the various knobs to find my sweet spot. (Ooh matron etc). Which for me was eq totally flat and then the two knobs at 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock respectively. Someone else may hate that, of course. Master volume that you pull to mute. At the back there is a single speaker socket - combined jack/speakon. Effects send/return. Tuner out. Di that can be switched post/pre eq and a ground lift. Will come with kettle lead and packed in a lap top case it came with that fits it just nicely. Asking a realistic £300 collected from SS7, could possibly deliver a reasonable distance or meet half way for fuel, overnight insured courier to mainland UK would be £25. Payment can be cash, PayPal no fee or bank transfer. Not looking for trades just at the moment, thank you. 14. .... and that someone is me! Just received Alan's Trace Elliot head in a lightening quick transaction. I will copy and paste from his advert: "This is the best amp I have ever owned, period. Everything on it works just perfectly. The moment I bought this one my amp search ended." Nothing more to add. I used to have and love TE gear in the past, after a back injury sold it because it was too heavy. At 12kg this is easily portable and it simply feels like coming home. Thank you Alan.
15. Lots of admiration and one trade offer (looking for cash at the moment) but nothing concrete A beautifully crafted, top quality piece of English guitar history for the cost of a Squier!
16. Bump for the perfect back up bass, in good nick with drop D tuner. I didn't talk about sounds. Can be played active or passive. Vol/vol/tone - active gives you stacked tone knob with bass/treble boost/cut. You can get a decent woody P-Bass tone out of it with the front pickup only, put both in the mix and it is more jazzy. But loud with high output. Currently has round wound strings but comes with spare flats - all double ball end. Little foldaway leg rest thingy is there and works just fine, too.
17. Bump for this high-spec, beautifully refinished and astonishingly lightweight bass!
18. It certainly is a thing of beauty, Rich. Oozes quality with all those little craftsmanship details. A piece of mid 80s bass history, too - all for the price of a new Squier.
