1. Moldable soft silicon plugs are surprisingly effective. Similar to chewing gum but not as sticky These are the type of thing, you can get them in boots or any chemist I would think. Casapete Feedback!

Sold a Danelectro bass to Pete in the most pleasant of transactions. He actually paid for it months ago but because of the hazards of entrusting a bass made of hardboard to the courier services we decided to hang on until a meet up was possible. Fortune smiled and I found myself visiting a friend who lived not 5 miles from Pete, so I was able to finally get shot of it from my rack! Pete is an absolutely smashing fellow - the type of chap who makes Basschat a warm and smiley place.
3. Off on a slight tangent but the first time I heard this I thought - Kravitz kind of revisiting the feel of 'Always On The Run', but no it isn't. http://youtu.be/6UEjz0P68T8
4. Bit of an update. I bought the gig bag as per post #5 into which it fitted but it is a very baggy fit and doesn't really offer a great deal of protection. Might as well have put it in a duvet cover, really. ABS bass cases don't fit - it is a really odd size and shape and the minimum internal length needs to be 130cm. Being a cheapskate I didn't want to shell out (is that a pun? nearly...) for a custom ali flight case so I started trawling the interweb for ABS cases used for other things having first of all made a paper template of the various position options. I discovered that the dimensions of this double rifle case indicated it would fit. Just. http://www.uttings.c...6/#.VbetE_lVhBf It arrived today and, yes, it fits. Just. £55 delivered, not bad. rather than having a shape to cut out the bass is sandwiched in between two layers of egg box foam and doesn't seem inclined to move when it is all shut up. A couple of spare bits on the corners, just for extra padding. Plus regular basses fit in a treat. It doesn't offer the same kind of protection that something like a Hiscox case would but for putting in and out of the car it is going to do a job. I might get some more! Having spent 2 days trawling the 'net for rifle cases I expect a visit from the CIA soon, of course... Edit - there is room for a folded up Ultimate Stand in there, too - which this needs to suspend from. Excellent.
5. I have a trusty old Peavey TKO 80 that sits in the corner of my 'office' (spare bedroom). Not worth selling it so I use that quietly for home practice when Mrs S is not at home.
6. And we do 'Is She really Going Out With Him'. Are we in the same band?
7. Had a gig last night and gave 'Psycho Killer' an airing for the first time. Really went down well. Or maybe it was just because it was in Bishop Stortford, I don't know...
8. Sold my Peavey Fury bass to Paddy in the most straightforward of transactions. A pleasure to deal with and I wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again. Enjoy the bass, Paddy!
9. Bought a Switchblade + from Jon in the easiest of transactions. Good and speedy comms, quickly dispatched, arrived well packed. Wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again - cheers Jon!
10. Trade for a Barefaced Supercompact? Or an Orange TB 1000 or GK MB Fushion 800 Or nice pair of LED bars on stands. all with cash adjustments if necessary ... Funny old world. A Fender Precision of this vintage would fetch double this, yet they were a similar price when new and, IMO, this is better built
11. My band Illegal Tender has a lot of odd stuff included in the set list. The one that *never* fails to get people dancing/clapping etc is Steve Earle's 'Copperhead Road'. A country classic that I would think 99% of punters would have never heard before. Very strange.
12. Didn't have long to wait, either.... bought another bass from Benedict - this time a Fender Aerodyne 32" scale Jazz. If ever anyone wanted to know how to pack a bass for transportation, ask Benedict. Bass>soft bag>bubblewrap>gig bag>bubblewrap>box>bubblewrap>bigger box>more bubblewrap. Great guy to deal with, too. Oh yes, almost forgot, the bass is remarkable. Thanks Benedict!
13. Bought a Pedaltrain Volto from Simon in the easiest of transactions. Wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again!
14. I'd enjoy that set. I'd rather be amongst a bunch of harmless and largely sober middle aged folk dressed as cowboys than a bunch of drunken chavs any day of the week.

16. Yes, please. Seems like a good idea. PM incoming.
17. I bought a 32" scale Westone Concord on here for £85 and I reckon it must be worth at least double that Seriously, it is a very, very good bass for the money. Sounds awesome and the neck is very nice to play with a decent tiger stripe figuring to boot.
18. Other trades considered - wotcha got? I'd add cash to this for an Orange Terror Bass 1000, for example. Or GK MB Fusion 800.
19. Interested in a trade for an Orange Terror Bass 1000 and a little cash or a GK MB Fusion 800.
